Let's talk traditional, pocketable, fixed blade knives.

I've never really talked about my fixed blades much here. I have a hard time defining "traditional" when it comes to them. I'm guessing that all but the 2 largest ones on the right might qualify?

Gary and I also have that same problem for fixed blades. We draw the line at glass-breaker features, fanciful designs, or uber self defense designs. I don't have a problem with any of the knives in your picture.

Anyone own the tidioute #10 pattern little bowie? Like the looks of that one but have several in that size range.

Thank you Frank - I feel better knowing I can freely post about any of them now.

Two makers I can think of, who make pocket-size fixed blades, are Charles May and Gene Ingram.

A little googling will show you their work. Really nice stuff, reasonably priced as well.

Love the look of that Fire Ant  When did fixed-blades get so sensible, at one time they were all blood groves and double-guards?!

These are all pretty pocketable (GEC Boy's Knife for scale) :)

I've posted these before but here they are again. I am a big pocket fixed blade fan. They are allowed in NYS.
This one from Jerry Halfrich, CPM154 about 6.25" with a Paul Long pocket sheath. Jerry calls this his Jack Russell model.

Here's a City Knife from Eldon Talley ATS-34, Mammoth Ivory, 5.75" with a KSF pocket sheath.

I've got some more but a laggy Photobucket has already wasted too much of my time today.

I hope these qualify, I've always enjoyed small fixed blades for EDC

Nice KYenglish. I think those are a bit smaller than I want, but they do look nice. What's the OAL. I'm thinking 6" would be about where I'm looking.

I've been REAL tempted by the T.U.S.K in 3v, they make them now with bolsters too

I forgot about this one, possibly because I gave it to my best friend before I moved doun souf - he uses it as his desk knife. My buddy always kept a cheap paring knife on his desk, I think this is a step up.

I don't know if it's pocketable enough, but I've already seen knives just as big on this thread :p;
This is the only fixed blade I own at the moment (and I think it qualifies as traditional): it's around 7,5" overall:

Good looking Menefee, Fausto.

This little guy made by Murray Carter banished my modern folders from my pockets :)
He usually has smaller models available as well.

I have carried this small Roselli puukko in my pocket, I think it fits the role well.

Hi Woodrow -

The JK English knives are just over 4", but with the lanyard and the nice bead, they work out to around 5" in hand, and the lanyard / bead combo really makes it feel like a longer knife.

They are great little knives - the first one I ordered was immediately commandeered by my wife...

There is a passaround going - I would bet we could get you included so you could check one out in person and provide your thoughts and critiques on a Pocket Rocket.

best
