lever gun

So 4 pages and no one's suggested a mare's leg?

A mare's leg suppressed is the only one I'd consider as I'm NOT a fan of lever guns.

^^^^^^^^^^good stuff CD. My puma 92 is one of the first imports without the safety, and does great with .38's but sometimes the longer 357's hang up if I work the action rapidly. Do you have a good smith you recommend? It could use some smoothing up....

.

The best I've ever seen or handled was worked on by Nate Kiowa Jones, he turned a rough gun that wouldn't feed dependably into a gun so smooth it felt like it had ball bearings, just a work of art.

Great guy to deal with and truly first rate work.

Mares legs are just fun. I have a couple and they are just a blast to shoot. Haven't got the one handed swing open down perfect but I am working on it.

I had a Marlin 45/70 guide gun in SS a few years ago. Regret letting it go. I have been looking at trying to get another.

I would love to play around with a mares leg but I'm not sure it has any practical use as a lever action but they sure do look like fun.

I can just imagine Beef rolling down the stairs and coming up shooting. I would love to see the Beef version of Josh Randall. Should be good for a lot of laughs.

are you kidding????!!!?? I'm the perfect Steve McQueen. I mean come on... look at me...

I don't have a good picture of my holy grail lever gun but it's Marlin Limited V, with a Brockman's rear peep, DCR large lever loop and DCR stainless shell follower.

Hi, not a Busse owner (yet) but I happened upon this thread..

Here's my Marlin 1895MR in .450 Marlin I had WWG do some work on about 7-8 years ago. Shortened barrel to 16.5", BB stainless finish, and ported. Added a big loop lever, ghost ring rear sight, hooded front sight, forward rail for long eye-relief scope (Leupold fixed 2.5x), trigger work. One of my favorite rifles! Lost a little velocity by cutting down the barrel, but still getting 1600 & 1800 FPS w/ 420 and 405 grain bullets - which is more than enough :)

Well, since I was already digging around in the safe... Puma and Ruger SRH in .480 Ruger.

Friend of mine bought a new Marlin in 45/70 & some Georgia Arms cowboy loads (20 rds for $32). He wanted me to shoot it first to gauge the recoil. Of course I obliged:). Makes me want to buy a reloading press. Course, I like 45 Colt, and never owned a 30/30...

What was the question, again?

Oh yeah, now I remember.

Marlin guide gun in 45/70 for the win, Beef!

I inherited a model 88 Winchester in .308. Haven't seen one of those mentioned. 5 round detachable magazine; .243, .308 or .358. A curious mix between a traditional lever action and a modern bolt action.
