Life after titanium framelock flippers

MR.SATism (and others), the real steel griffin is an excellent (IMO) button or plunge lock folder. Good steel (mine takes a super sharp edge), good price, and just overall different.

I think they offer good variety to the market...choice is a good thing.

But I prefer just your good ol' manual with (thumb stud/disc) or wave and washers. And I normally prefer a liner over a frame lock.

I must be doing something wrong tho, I haven't been able to wear out a lock yet, even on decade-old folders.:D

I can't say I'm tired of frame lock flippers as I still buy and use them. Is the market more than a bit over-saturated with them? For sure. Does that mean there aren't plenty of other choices available--both older models and newly released? Of course not.

Are there fanboys that buy certain types of knives for the "wrong" reasons? Answer that with another question--who's to say? Or--who cares? Does one have to be an expert in bladecraft or combat to purchase and carry knives? Of course not. I never think of my knives as weapons. To me they're tools as well as pieces of fine design, execution, and craftsmanship that I enjoy.

I have frame lock flippers, liner lock flippers, frame lock non-flippers, as well as thumb-stud, Spydie-hole, AXIS lock, back lock, slip-joint, and numerous other knives with many variations of deployment and lock-up. I have some frame lock flippers that are definitely overbuilt--most of my few Hinderers, for example--but I appreciate how well they're made and feel in hand. I also appreciate those I have that are great cutter/slicers and strike just the right balance between strength, weight, and economy of design like my CRKs or Shiros.

I'm fortunate, I suppose, not to live and work in areas where I have to worry about Draconian knife laws, being "discovered" by police, or showing my clip. When I travel into such an area, I'll usually bring along a smaller knife which can drop into my other pocket under my wallet. I'll usually not bring anything that would represent a great loss if confiscated. If I go to a game, concert, etc where "weapons" are prohibited, I'll just leave my knife at home or in the car, despite feeling naked without it.
