"Like" posted on a for sale or for trade post?

First it can bring attention to your sale and that’s a good thing. Secondly you can change your preference alert settings to which alerts you want to receive and those you don’t want.

I do it and will continue to. My reason is usually because I think the person is offering a knife at a very reasonable price and not gouging like some do just because they know some knife addict won’t be able to resist. I appreciate those who are considerate with their pricing, and even more those who post low prices just to be nice.

Your not suppose to make non sales related posts in the thread. They may like the knife or that you offered it at a good price. Hopefully someone likes both and buys it. I have never found it to be a problem- better than saying you must be kidding.

Well, now that I have a better understanding of it. THANKS to all of you for the likes. I appreciate it, and thanks for clearing it up for me.
Hasn't sold yet on a friday. I thought the 70 was a good price for a popular model, especially to throw in the tool box or glove compartment. I guess I may end up keeping this one if it doesn't sell. Got a tackle box needing a knife in it. I have so many I thought I'd let this one go cheap and give someone a good user at a fair price.
Thanks again BF.

Mods, please feel free to move this if i have it in the wrong place. My apologies in advance if I do.

I'm just curious, or maybe I just don't know what I'm doing. It seems when I post a thread with something for sale or trade, that invariably ,someone hits a "like" button on that post.
Why? What does it mean? i.e You "like" a post that I created selling a used knife that is very common and popular in our community?
I don't get it. Can someone explain why anyone would post a "like" for a for sale thread on a super common edc blade that is nothing special, no mods, bone stock, etc.?
Is it to frustrate me when I see that I have a message or reply in the thread and hope I have a buyer or trade offer, only to open it and see that someone "liked" my for sale/trade post?

Educate me please.

Thanks in advance BF.

It's a conspiracy. They like the post which sends a message to another member of their group. That member then purchases the knife thereby acquiring your return address.

Afterward, in 9 to 284 months, the Dull Blade Occultists as they're known internally, will break into your home and dull all your knives on glass cutting boards so that you'll no longer be able to cut bananas with the powerful steel.

It's a well known problem. They hit me last year. Even went so far as to ruin my Shapton stones.

The Texas Rangers are closing in on them though. Not the law enforcement agency, they have better things to do. The baseball team is full of knife nuts.

I wouldn't be surprised if the lack of movement is due to the recent benchmade anti-gun corporate actions (or at least those actions were seen to be as such - there are other threads that go in depth), and as a result the potential buyers of bm have dropped. Gluck ; )

Return address huh? Well. Come on by. Lol This is Texas. Anything valuable is in the safe and it's bolted to the slab. I don't own anything worth dieing for anyway. I always carry. My wife carries two guns. All my kids either carry, or know how to shoot, or both. Two Dobermans with free roam of the house and yard. Retired military neighbors on both sides home all day. Sheriff's deputy across the street. Pretty safe here. Maybe a little overkill if you count all the cameras I have up. Lol again.

One of two things.

1) I like the post early on to let others know that I could have bought the knife before them...marking my territory so to speak.

2) I like the post because the seller has a stupendously low price.

You decide which is for real :)

Ronnie, are you not making sheaths anymore?

I usually like a sale post if I like the seller or the knife. Or, I just want to make them wonder...

Maybe you should say “nobody like this sales post unless you intend to buy!” Lol

Foolish mortal, now we know all your security measures that are in place! Our counter-counter measures will ensure our victory
