Limited edition "Sprint Run" CPM M4 Malanika Puukkos

Hmm, two shots of Mt Hood from the Tom Dick & Harry trail   It can get VERY windy up there. October 2009, I recorded a video of my wife nursing our 9-month-old (first child) in the shelter of that rock seen in the second pic, and all you can hear is wind :)

Awesome effort on these knives, Deadbox

Good eye.

Quite an iconic place.

Thanks for sharing.

I appreciate the compliments my friend :D

OH BOOOOORING :( -

Kidding of course! I am wicked jealous. It's a beauty - as we expect and as the others will be too.

I wonder how many of the winners will ever USE the knife . I still have my old Wirkala [sp?] which I used as my all purpose hunting knife . These Malanika knives will be very useful in the field and always be beautiful !! Nice job Malanika !

I will definitely use mine! One of the reasons I like curly birch and enclosed tangs is because in winter metal handles including exposed tangs can make handling a knife very uncomfortable, even through mittens. Curly birch has a warmer feel to it than many other handle materials I have used, with the added bonus of being really light weight. Puukkos like this have fully-enclosed tangs. Great combination.
We are not often out when temps drop below -20F, but are often out at temps above that. Right now my main winter users are enclosed tang fixed blades with rubber handles and spyderco folders with FRN or G10 scales. None of this Ti-RIL stuff ;) Definitely NO flippers! Spyderhole is easy to open with mittens on. Fixed blades even easier. Puukkos with dangler sheath work great and M4 is awesome! I am looking forward to it. Don't expect pictures though - I don't usually carry a camera and don't mess with them if it requires taking my mittens off :)

Hahaha I'm jealous of every knife he makes that isn't mine!😂😂😂

I wish I could explain to my wife why I need MORE!

Haha

It's such a high performance tool it would be a sin not to use it.

At the same time it's so beautiful I can understand not using it :D

Here is a link to my ongoing review M4 Puukko review

Probably more of a diary, then a review :D

Yes, I've given Daniel the resources for him to make these without me since I'll be busy with other projects.

Should be a month or two

Thanks

I love how this thread starts, with a few of our members jumping to the conclusion that the OP doesn't know what he's doing...that he's selfish & misguided, etc. Then it turns out to be a great thread that a lot of guys are interested in. I just think it's cool when the guys who seem to live to jump on posters, who they deem as not understanding Bladeforums as robustly as they do, end up on the wrong side of history....so to speak. I don't know, it just strikes me as belittling others to elevate oneself, like children often do on the playground.

Anyhow, I too am I bid fan of these knives, & they're not even my style really...they're just that well done.

2nd that!

and of course, one for me, with thunderstorm kevlar handle...
Thanks everyone again...

Thanks for doing this!!
I just received mine (pictured in post 65) about 15 minutes ago and it is just as beautiful in person as in the photos above.
What you can't see in the photos is how amazing it feels in hand. It just become an extension of the hand. The craftsmanship on both the blade, handle, and sheath are topnotch. I have been following DBH's in use review on the Reviews section and am eager to put this blade to work. That might have to wait until this weekend unless I want to sharpen pencils or something (about the only wood thing in my office). I am sure it will function as well as it looks.
