LionSpy (Spyderco version of SR-1)

I am going to get that knife. But I might as well put it out of my mind for about a year until I don't need to pay a huge premium from someone else. Not to mention ridiculous wait till it is in full production (para-military2 and TI-military) so who knows when it will be available?

Problem is if its like the SR1 then if you don't get in on the first 300 price doubles. I would like to see price around $175-$200 on preorder LE if they are numbered and we get rid of that OD G10 and have decent steel.

So what will it be? Based upon Manix 2 Sprint run success I say either:

Orange

Blue

or my choice would be:

Coyote Brown

I can almost guarantee that is not G10 but anodized aluminum. I also think if you want one you better jump on it as it will be made by Lionsteel and there will probably be one Sprint run. I also wouldn't plan on a great price initially as that was a one time thing Lionsteel did to gain interest in the knife. Plus Spyderco will price the knife not Lionsteel.

It looks nice but I was really hoping it would be monolithic like the original.

I like the construction and how it looks. For me it would be more useful if it had a lower point and straiter edge.

Lionsteel are the company who did the DpX HEST folder and that comes in a leftie version so there is hope if this goes to production.

Lionsteel is really coming up in the "production for other companies" line of work. They've now done spyderco, dpx, and are currently doing esee...thats epic...I may just wait for a lefty version of the 3 folder...that thing looks like its going to be a boss, unless, spyderco makes a lefty version of this sr-1 like folder. and depending on how thick it is (the blade) will be a determining factor.

That really looks like G-10. You can see patterns in the grooves of the scale. Also, in the lock shot you can see those small dimple looking dots that are usually on the inside part of a G-10 scale. I'm not saying that it can't be Al, but it really looks like G-10.

The samples are made of: Elmax Blade, Titanium frame and G10 handle.

Jeff Randall said they will be making a left hand version of the 3 folder and I will definitely get one. Lionsteel is awesome!

Yeah I was wrong. It looked like the same color as the dark green anodized aluminum they have done (granted I'm on my phone). Plus they have already used aluminum in the knife but I'm glad to see they are trying G10. It makes for a lighter knife and is a popular combination. I'm happy as I would much rather it be G10 and think most others will agree.

Oh.....my.....GOD!!!

I was almost going to go for the original one, and I thought it was a fake or an idea, but a lionspy sounds wicked cool!

Just when you think you've kicked your addiction, they come out with something else to get you hooked!

Yeah. After the Para 2 came out I was convinced I would never need to buy another folding knife as long as I live. Then i saw this...

I'm not a fan of metal handles- I'd ship it off to get a G-10/Micarta scale.

My Spyderco collection is growing all the time. I have 2 militaries on pre order now. When this one comes out it will be three.:)
