LionSpy (Spyderco version of SR-1)

I didn't take pictures of the protos. Because Spyderco asks we not.

It is a neat looking knife.

Around $300 street - that I know. I'm on the list for at least one and a tentative second.

My dealer tells me it isn't a sprint run. But coming from Lionsteel I'm sure it's limited production just like Lionsteel's SR-1 series and the Spyderco Ti series Militaries. You can't crank out that kind of knife by the dozens or more each day.

I suspect this could be another knife that is well worth the street price which doesn't happen all the time. Personal design and spec preferences aside, this knife will be custom quality if it's built as well as my SR-1 Grey. I'm curious what the weight difference will be minus the Monoblock. .5 to 1 ounce perhaps.

Here are the SR-1 specs and I'll bet the LionSpy blade thickess will be the same for what the price will be.

Specifications:
Overall Length: 8.3"
Blade Length: 3.7"
Blade Thickness: .177"
Handle Material: Titanium
Blade Steel: Sleipner 60-61 HRC
Weight: 6.8 oz.

The locking slab will be Ti, not aluminum from what I hear.

If that crazy MSRP is right, a sprint run may be plenty to meet demand. Yikes.

No kidding. I was super excited for the LionSpy but that may put it out of reach for me with all of the other cool knives coming out after the blade show.

I absolutely love everything about it EXCEPT that wee, little clip <
I would have to get it & carry it for a few days, before I could give an educated response about it.

When are these coming out?!Will there be A LOT?As in,enough for everyone?I hate pre-orders.

i had a pre order, but decided to back off to see if it moves as fast as people think....i do not think this will sell out immediately especially at its price point.

Any updates on this blade?

Also, anyone know what the weight will be? If the SR-1 is 6.8, I hope the G10 will shave off at least an ounce.

Thanx. That's what I thought but wasn't sure. I don't know ,after what happen with the hest folder am I the only one hesitant to pull the trigger? I know I know ,the sr 1 has been called nothing short of perfection.that's why i really want this knife .I think ill just wait till some get sold and reviewed .if the preorders all havnt been filled(fingers crossed) and reviews are good ,ill buy.

It's going to an awesome knife. ELMAX steel is amazing, I've been really happy with the results from what blades I've used with it. I'm sure you will get one, there will be plenty to go around. ;)
