LIONSTEEL CAPLIFTER BARLOW

Well, I picked up a natural micarta tonight. It just looks tough, I like that.

I bought a stag today. USPS says it’ll be here Monday. 🤞 I was waffling between stag and a rams horn. They both look top notch.

Question for those that now have these: How pokey is the tang of the closed blade for your finger in use?

I have the CK Lionsteel Warhorse in ram's horn, and the end of the blade tang is nicely chamfered and not sharp or uncomfortable at all. I would imagine these would be the same -- I will find out for sure when my beerlow in stag arrives!

On mine, when you look at the surface mating of the tangs and locks when the blades are open, they fit together nicely.

Both have just enough sharpness that if I were to sharply rap the closed tang/ tangs against a knuckle it would probably break the skin.

Using the blade in a drawing/ slicing motion, the tool tang is a non-issue.

Using the blade in a cutting motion like sharpening a stick and cutting away from the body, the tool tang does poke into the second pad on my index finger but it's not too bad. Using the blade like that for a lengthy period would generate hotspot/ blister.

Using the blade in a peeling motion (like peeling an apple), the tool tang isn't an issue.

All above based on my copy, the size and shape of my hands & fingers, etc... so IMHO & YMMV applies.

This is extremely helpful. Thank you for the thorough response!

The tang on the caplifter seems a little less obtrusive and a little less “pokey” than the tangs on my Warhorse. Might just be me tho…
