LionSteel Shuffler

My Shuffler is in the House, and I am very impressed. The finish on the Micarta is more of a “performance tactical” type of finish, in comparison to GEC’s buffed finish. The Shuffler’s covers have a rough tactile feel to them. Wonderfully grippy, and utilitarian in appearance. Very much a working man’s knife, which I don’t mind a bit. I didn’t buy the Shuffler to be a safe queen.

The edge was sharpened reasonably well. Good enough to shave hair. The blade grind is pretty good. My super-duper digital micrometer measures the blade thickness behind the edge to be about .022 to .025 inches. Still not a good a slicer as my clip blade GEC #77, that measures out to about .018 inches, but still respectable.

The blade shape is absolutely perfect. The edge has a nice long straight section, with just enough belly to be helpful, but not so much upsweep that fine tip work is compromised. I love the swedge and the nail nick. The blade is easy to pinch on opening. To tell you the truth, I’d say the blade shape of the Shuffler is pretty much the gold standard for clips, as far as I’m concerned. I was a bit down on clip points for a few years, but the Shuffler has me rethinking my preferences.

You guys probably know everything else, if you already have a Roundhead. Nice strong light frame. Nice size for a working man’s knife. Perfect walk and talk, from my point of view. I really like the Shuffler a lot, and have a feeling that it will only grow on me further, as I get to use it. It’s going to get a lot of pocket time. Thanks Mike!!!

Buzzbait Buzzbait Very nice!!!

I checked tracking on mine - they're currently on the way from OK to TX... but for some reason they're in PA currently.
Either the USPS knows something I don't ...or they should consult a globe.

I got my Shuffler in White Carbon Fiber today

The first thing I noticed was that my typical complaint with slipjoints, proud tips, was not going to be a problem with this knife. It sits very deep. I actually was concerned that it had blade rap, as the edge sits about as close as possible to the bump in the backspring. I did check with paper though and it doesn't seem to have rap, I think the different blade stop system helps keep it from bouncing like a traditional slipjoint.

The second thing I noticed was how good looking the carbon fiber is. It is sure classy and eye catching. However, I didn't realize it would be so smooth. It feels more like a flat acrylic. I haven't owned any carbon fiber, but I've gotten to handle a few and they were all tackyer and had more grip. I don't love the feel and despite really liking how it looks might try to trade it. My girlfriend said she likes how the handle material of traditionally made barlows (not in those words) seamlessly transition to the bolsters better than the radiused transitions on this.

I am glad this clip point is pinchable, because although the nail nick is usable certainly it is easy for your finger nail to slip out of the groove due to the radiused edge.

I really like the clip point and handle shape. It is a very classic pattern.

It did come with a machining mark/defect on the backspring. Not sure if I should consider this a big deal or not. Surprised by it, and won't be able to get it out because of the steel and finish. But it doesn't hamper use at all.

Out of the box and in my pocket!!!

Here's a lil comparison of "cousins."

The 77 has a stiffer pull and is a lil heavier than the Shuffler. The Shuffler is super smooth and sharp out of the box. Walk and talk is amazing. It disappears in the pocket gonna be an awesome EDC blade! Im a fan of natural micarta and clip points. Can't wait to see how I like M390 steel. Overall I'm liking what I see and it a success in my eyes! I couldn't be happier!

Thanks for all your hard work Mike I wouldn’t of wanted to be in your shoes last week that’s for sure .
Especially in a one man band !

Stupid PO said mine was delivered and it wasn’t there, but they left a key for a locker! The PO is really screwing up around here...

Splendid knives everyone. I thought I was gonna be able to play with mine today. Arrrrgggghhhhh!

Buzzbait's review from the previous page could have been written by me. He covered all my impressions well, though mine is ram's horn. Excellent blade shape, with a nice usable pointy point. Mine consistently measured .017" behind the grind. Beautiful knife with only one criticism... This may be the last knife I ever buy. Love at first sight. Very well made knife. Thanks CK!

+1

My rams horn Shuffler arrived today and I'm super impressed. I had a 1st run Roundhead in Santos wood that I ended up gifting to my daughter's boyfriend because I just wasn't crazy about the blade shape. This Shuffler clip blade is perfect and it's not leaving my pocket!

It wasn't supposed to be here til Tuesday but came wayyyyy faster. What a nice weekend suprise!!!
Nice !
I wasn’t expecting mine to arrive until after everyone else’s anyway and I was correct .
It sucks to be at the top of the bottom of the list ;)
Now it’s just the anticipation of what’s going to arrive lol .

I almost posted the same. I’m just not sure whether I can adjust to carrying a knife without a bail. But I’m sure gonna try for the next week or so.
