LionSteel TRE flipper with 2.91" M390 blade CF/TI/G-10

Ramzar, see my post and Neo's response a few posts above

You deducted the VAT coming up with a discount of 21%-24%. Anyway, I don't think the prices will be that low. I hope I'm wrong.

TiSpine sells for €290 which converts to $335 today but most U.S. dealers sell it for $375-$385.

A year ago €1 was $1.39!

Fair enough. I hadn't considered that their knives sell for more than Euro msrp stateside (though I'm not surprised). In any case, these knives look badass and if the price is right I'll definitely pick one up.

Call me weird, but I actually like the lines on this knife. If the G-10 version comes in under $200 I will probably get it.
I've been wanting to try Lionsteel for a while now, but all other offerings have something holding me back.
ti Spine - too expensive for a non-lefty
SR-1/2 - too bulky
Hijinx - Too expensive for a non-lefty + $400 for a CRKT? Can't do it.... not yet
HEST -R.Y.P. (almost bought it few times in spite of him. Still might pick up a secondhand lefty though)

You're weird! ;) But as the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. :)

The design of the T.R.E. strikes me as being awfully busy. I just can't get my eye to settle on it comfortably. There are too many lumps, bumps, notches and angles to let the knife flow smoothly from back to front. Some folks might consider all of those visual cues interesting, but I find them distracting. Contrast it with a TiSpine and you'll see what I'm talking about. I might feel differently if I saw a T.R.E. in person, however.

nice inovation and everything but to me knife is too small. i would prefer 3.5 inch version. also the spot where clip mounts for the left hand carry on presentation side is super ugly. at least there is no rotoblock system on this one.

In this case I suppose you have to buy from Europe

$ 259

Edit: I don't know if you have to pay import taxes in the States (my guess is not)

This looks great and I much prefer this size to anything larger than 3.50. This will likely be my first LionSteel!

Gianni: my suggestions would be an aluminum version and a longer flipper - my first thought was that the flipper looks too short to gain much leverage.

Also, would it be possible to create flipper versions of your prior knives like the TR or SRs?

Gianni/RamZar,
Can you tell us what style bearing design and bearing material is used in this knife (and is it the same for both the G10 and Ti models)? Lionsteel always seems shy about listing bearing type and materials used. I personally won't buy a knife without knowing anything about this key design/performance point, especially on a flipper model.

Ask Gianni in the main thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1253279-T-R-E-Three-Rapid-Exchange-LionSTEEL

I asked in there whether the IKBS bearings are caged like on the Hi Jinx and also whether ceramic. Did not get a response. So, I suggest you also ask. Strength in numbers.

Only saw the one partial photo of the G-10 model. Was hoping for more photos, which would show the spine and the G-10 spacer for comparison. Had also hoped the second color option had been sorted out.

I'm sure more pictures will come. They're not due to ship them until around May 2015.

I guess it's okay as is, because once I get it where I want it, the other parts go into a box. Of course, that means you are paying for some extra parts you'll never use. But maybe that makes it easier to sell with all of the "transition" parts.
I don't like the clip at all...it looks like a nail or spike. I like a much larger, wider blade for a pocket-clip. It's much more stable in the pocket; I won't lose my knife by accident, and the wider grip should not have much in the way of a hot-spot.
