LionSteel TRE flipper with 2.91" M390 blade CF/TI/G-10

I guess looking it from a legality aspect some might think its innovative, but I don't at all. To me, it's like those revolvers with "interchangable cylinders", it's just goofy...

Wow. Sorry to stray from the original topic, but how are interchangeable cylinders goofy? I have a .22lr/ .22 mag Ruger Single Six that is probably my most used pistol and I have a few. The ability to change between calibers is great. .22 mag for more power .22 lr. is cheaper and quieter. Plus there is less chance to run out of ammo. Also have a .357 blackhawk with 9mm cylinder. Again, same benefits. The knife looks ok to me, but probably not for the price.

Def getting the G10 model for the cleaner blade.
Hope there will be some nice aftermarket titatnium scales that gets ride of the lefty holes

The design of the T.R.E. strikes me as being awfully busy.

I always thought the lock side of the Hinderer XM-18 was overly busy, but then I bought a 3" model and after a little time with it in person, I started to like it a lot. I have a feeling the same could happen with this TRE. Some knives are just difficult to capture in an appealing way in a photograph.

Is it just me or does the flipper tab seem very small? Hopefully it has a strong detent!

Personally, I like low-profile flipper buttons. Action seems pretty good from the SHOT Show video:

Great little flippers! Fit and finish is excellent. Milling on both the full titanium and G-10 assure a good grip. Nice light, narrow, trim and slim package. The flipper action needs a full light switch motion since the detent is not that strong (the blade will not fall out without the flipper) and the flipper tab is fairly low profile (less leverage). It's very smooth and the M390 blade is centered, nice grind and very sharp.

Since I have both the G-10 and full titanium I definitely prefer the blade of the G-10 since it doesn't have the hole nor swedge. My ideal one would be the G-10 blade on the full titanium handle. I may try that...

G-10 weighs 2.37 ounces and the full tutanium 2.87 ounces. Blade length is 2.9 inches.

Pictures later...

The G-10 models should sell well since I think the price at U.S. dealers should be around $200-$225.

I freakin' love it, but I had my enthusiasm deflated a bit by the size; I wouldn't normally buy a knife with a blade under 3 inches. In this case, I will. As far as the removable parts -- brilliant. I love flippers, and a removable tab is an excellent idea. It may turn out no one likes it, and that feature will disappear 3 years from now; or everyone could end up loving it. Either way, I think LionSteel do the knife industry a service by taking the time, cost and risk to push things in new directions. The price is great. Many US companies would ask a significantly higher price than that.

My two TRE folders. TI Blue & G-10 Orange.

For those that own or handled one, how's the ergonomics for you? I'm pretty big on that and from the (impressive) pics, it seems that it may be less than stellar.

Comfortable. Handle length is just short of 4 inches. I like it better with thumb disc installed and I can rest my thumb on it.

I don't understand your "less than stellar" comment. In light of that, I suggest you actually hold one for yourself.

Indeed, that's why I am asking for opinions. I'm not in a positon to magically hold one for myself. Only way is to buy one and get it mailed to me and I am not into the hassle of returning knives via mail or selling them really. Also, I am not a collector so if I buy it, it will get used: hot spot etc matter to me. "Less than stellar" because all I have is pictures and it doesn't look comfortable TO ME. Again, just wanted to see what others thought to get a little better idea.

Thanks, comfortable is a good start +1. Any others with ergo opinions?

RamZar, does the G10 side have a Ti liner too?
Sorry, already thinking about a re-scale. :D

G10 side does not have a Ti liner (or any liner). Both the Ti and G10 sides are partly milled-out, too.

Picked up a green G10 at blade. After I fondled them for a while the first day I had to go back the second day and get one. Extremely light and smooth. Plus my ideal EDC is a 3 - 3.25in blade which this basically meets. Like the CF ones but didn't really need the removable flipper and also liked the simpler blade on the G10 model...plus when I went back the only CF one they had left was the display which wasn't for sale

Understood. No hot spots. Very rounded. I would've liked a little jimping.

If anyone would like some comparison pictures let me know and I'll try to oblige. Remember it's a thin and fairly narrow folder. I'll probably take a picture alongside a Small Sebenza since they're so close size-wise. Anything from Spyderco would be noticeably wider. Benchmade 707 and 485 are smaller mostly due to shorter handles.
