anyone have a Livesay necker? I'm interested in one in particular nrgs and was wanting a little feedback on their products/warranty/customer service..

thanks,

rob

Thanks,

I have 3 Izula's..

I just did a search here about newt livesay, adn I must say OUCH:thumbdn:

seems hes BURNT a lot of people and bridges in the past, I was only wanting the NRG for a PSK I had in mind, I like the length of the blade etc, but now after reading several different posts I'm really skeptical..

sad to, as he has a dream survival knife/machete very close to 1/4" and 12" long..for a steal of a deal... or should I say steal:rolleyes:

Very Sad Indeed..

Esav,

I'm about an 1 1/2 hrs or less from his shop, it does appear he does good work just maybe a little (lot) flaky, maybe someday I can make a stop to see items on 'hand'..(doesn't mean I'd buy anything just curious if I pass through the area..)

thanks for saving me a big headache, I feel sorry for the guys who really got burnt..

Newt's a good guy but an impossibly bad businessman. I think you could order something he had in his hand and he'd forget to send it to you. His work is good, just ... inaccessible.
....

Sums up my experience with him perfectly, he always delivered ... eventually!

Too be fair all my dealings with him were some years back when he was definitely having both business and health problems, or so I understand.

I wouldn't hesitate a minute to order anything I really wanted from him, but I wouldn't hold my breath while I waited for delivery. All purchases as described and as expected, just a tad slow in getting to me.

Certainly wish him well if he's back up and running again.

Regards,
:) ...

I contacted him on both facebook and email and it took about two months to get a response. I'd have pulled the trigger already if I had some assurance the blade would ever get to me.

Did ya consider buyin' one that was preowned?

I have a Livesay and it's a tough little sucker for sure but I got it quiet some time ago, I think things were a little different when he started.

I'd have to disagree with the first sentence and agree with the last one.

I used to talk to him back when he still picked-up the phone.

I've talked to him probably close to 20 times over a couple years, every conversation had him promising to send out my order items "tomorrow", but he never did. IMHO, that falls far short of being a "good guy".

Newt was an innovator and contributed greatly to modern knife-making, being one-of, if not the first to use kydex sheaths, micarta grips, full flat grinds, cryo-quenching. etc.

If somebody really wants one of his knives, try one of his distributors.

Just last week I was cleaning out my pickup truck and found a Livesay Woo hidden in the interior of the console, underneath it's tray. Yup, a lovely, sharp Woo I hadn't seen in years. A great day, that one was. :D

I've like that NRGS necker design ever since i saw it featured in a youtube vid a member did...can't remember who.

Sounds like it might be a lot of trouble to get one though...

I'm still waiting on my NRGS...2 months now and 4 "I'm shipping it Monday" promises...WTF? He talks a lot of crap about "supporting veterans"...well I'm a Veteran and don't feel the love Newt. Where's my frickin knife???

Keep hounding him, IF he does ship, he'll ship to the "squeaky wheels" first and ignore the ones who politely wait.

I have a bow hunting buddy from Newt it is one of my favorite knives and have had it for about 12 years now. Newt made Randall's RTAK and I am mad that I never got one, sounds a litle late to do it now.
