Just curious, do people have dedicated knife stores in their towns or sports stores that have them?
All I have is a local gun shop that has a small selection of Spydercos like the native or delicas and some Benchmades, Houge, and CRKT. Our sports stores are even worse. Maybe one Buck knife and a few Swiss Army knives. Wish there were more local shops to see models in person.

I have a couple local stores that have decent selections. One of them actually has an impressive inventory.

I’ve got a couple places that have a decent selection. One is mostly MicroTech

Cabelas and the local hardware stores have the best selections in town. I don't purchase from either very often though.

Where I am in rural Florida, I do not know of any stores that sell knives as their main business. But within a 25 minute drive, there are a hardware store and a farm store that typically stock over 100 knives of varying quality. There is also one jewelry store that sells Benchmade knives only, usually with a couple dozen in stock. About 45 minutes away there is a jewelry store that had three William Henrys in stock the last time I was there. There are some big-box stores such as Walmart that have a non-trivial selection of knives, but getting your hands on a knife is problematic. In fact, the last time I was at Walmart, it would have been difficult even to buy a knife because no employee was available to open the locked display case. Pawn stores and gun stores do not have knives.

Local Ace Hardware stocks 20-30 Spydercos and 15 or so Benchmade along with some Kershaw and Buck.
Within a hours drive there are several outdoor stores with very solid knife counters.
KnifeWorks is about an hour and a half from me.

There was once a small but we'll stocked knife only store in my city. I went almost every week as a younger man, it was awesome and the owner eventually to a shine to me. I miss that place. Most gun shops here have some knives of decent brands but price too high and don't seem to care about knives.

I live 5 miles from SMKW but rarely ever go. The crowds can be overwhelming and I feel like Ron Swanson when I speak with most of the associates.

There is an Outdoor Emporium that has a good selection of Benchmade, CRKT, Kabar/Becker and a few others.
There is a sporting goods store that has a good selection except they don't have Benchmade anymore. They are a local chain of two stores and their parent company is a distributor/wholesaler of a number of sporting goods and used to be distributor of Benchmade. Hopefully they'll get back as one of their stores used to sometimes carry the gold line.

The only knife specific store in the area was that overpriced chain that was in malls.

From home it's over an hour to get to a decent knife shop. I travel for work though and there are stores everywhere with good selections. I've found knives that were going for double msrp on ebay for msrp. Some I wanted some I could have bought online for cheaper. I stop in the ones where the owner is a knife guy whenever I can. Even if I don't find something it was nice to talk to a knife guy for a while. I bring my new glory and at least look at his best ones. If you're looking for a specific knife I wouldn't go very far without checking.

About an hour from Winkler Knives, but have only been 3 times in 7 years. Equi-distant to SMKW, New Graham, and Olde Towne Cutlery, which I use to make excuses for road trips or to combine with other travel.

I am lucky enough to have GP Knives kind of close. Every sporting goods store around is waaaaaaaaaaaay over priced then add on sales tax.
I would move to Sevierville, TN just to be by SMKW!!!! Wow!
