Local knife shops

About 50 years ago in Palo Alto, CA, Williams Sonoma used to be a knife shop.
I'm in the South Bay Area now, Stevenscreek Surplus has a pretty good selection.

My son moved to the Ft. Worth area. His apartment is about 2 blocks from the biggest knife shops I've see. It called House of Blades, just off the 820 in Lakeworth. Excellent selection and great staff.
Do you remember Mel Cotton's? It was THE place in San Jose when I was a kid in the '70s! I used to ogle the giant Case Bowie (in the Case case😸).

We have a local place here in Midlothian, VA but I've never been there. Saw them at a local gun show a time or two. I need to get over there and see what they do.

Been in there. Super nice owner. Likes american made. He turned me one to my 1st ZT, 0450.

I think we need to reorganize this thread by if there's a ropeway with an hour away. That's what would work best for me anyways...

Every shop that carries knives near me sell them at or above msrp except one, and that one only sells Microtech and Benchmade, neither of which interest me.
Hmm. The three local stores around here in rural Florida that have a decent selection of knives all sell below MSRP. Two of them will sell below MAP if I ask.

Today I discovered that a store in town has a fairly good selection of knives, including about 50 Benchmades. The Benchmades sell at MSRP. I am not sure about the other brands.

Sawyers cutlery used to be across the street from my parents house in the south shore of Mass. I used to love going in there and buying knives. I got friendly with the owner, I miss those days. He always had something new to show me, and I’d usually end up owning it.

I'm about an hour away from River's Edge Cutlery in Columbus, Ohio and their new showroom is probably the single nicest knife store I've ever been in. I still shop online more than I should, but if I'm gonna drop a significant amount of $$$ and it's something they have in stock I'm gonna head in there to handle it before I buy. Only downside is that I sometimes talk myself into buying a few other odds and ends while I'm there.

Paragon Sports in NYC use to have a really good selection of quality knives, I brought my first spyderco from there probably around 1990. In the last 10 years or so with NYS/NYC laws they've greatly reduced their inventory and dropped a lot of knives that could be an issue so it's nothing like it use to be but for a long time they were the place to go for nice folders. If I recall right they even had some Sabenzas in the display.

Anyone around Austin TX? I just moved here and haven't found any stores selling decent knives yet. I would assume being in Texas there are plenty I'm missing.

Funny story, I saw a store the other day called "Cut-N-Shoot" and figured it's gotta be my kinda place. Turns out it was a hair salon 😭

Nothing near enough to me that I'm aware of. I'm about a 2 hour drive from DLT, I really need to make that trip. Otherwise, there was a gun shop about 25 miles away that sold CRK but they stopped being a dealer years ago.

North River Outdoors in Goochland Va is awesome. Close to Richmond/Midlothian, has great selection of fixed, folding, axes, etc…Best yet, since they have an knife site, their in store pricing is competitive to inline pricing. Had first visit out in my birthday, and had a great experience.

Scheels here in town has a fairly decent selection.

I buy online most of the time but I recently discovered a simple advantage of buying local that I never really thought about before. I bought a knife at Scheels on my lunch break and when I got back to work, I discovered a pretty serious defect. Took it back and exchanged it for a flawless model after work that same day.

Kelly's cutlery in Modesto CA is my local spot. Great people to do business with, they carry a wide range from budget friendly stuff to CRK in fact my first expensive knife came from them. A Emerson wave don't remember the model. Then I got my first CRK from them ad well.

Sawyer River Knife & Trading in North Conway, NH. About a 4 hour drive from home, so I only drop in when I come up here for vacation. Pretty big selection in stock and on display, and run by very nice people.

I was going to say "probably not," except that the other day I was going to a local butcher here in Cave Creek, AZ, and noticed that there was a knife store next to it, that I had never noticed. I did not have high hopes, but I walked in and was pretty stunned. Amazing selection. I walked out with my first-ever Randall, a pristine 8C with sheath and the little stone. Hey, I never said I had unlimited will power. The place is called Penchetta Pen & Knife. The proprietor said they moved north from Scottsdale about a year ago. It's great to have such a good store nearby, and I will be back.

Awesome shop 15 mins from me in Fort Wayne. Massive selection of Microtechs which always make for a great last minute gift. The lowest end knife Mark of Blademans carries I believe are the Richard Rogers CRKT collabs which imo are some great valued beaters.

that’s cool, I'm gonna have to swing by & check it out next time i head to phoenix. in flagstaff the best we have is the local sportsman’s warehouse, other than that there’s an rei, couple locally owned camping stores & gun stores that have small selections of knives, and a surplus store north of town that carrie’s a decent selection of benchmades and a bunch of ultra tactical stuff that doesn’t really appeal to me. we used to have a decent knife shop at the local mall, but it folded around the turn of the century

Ruff's Sporting Goods - Arming Flagstaff Since 1932 👍👍👍
yup, they’re the bomb. tho i do miss when they used to carry liquor & cigarettes too. was a one stop shop for all your weekend fun. if you don’t mind my asking are you from around here?
