Lone Ranger (thumbs down)

I guess I don't understand where you're coming from. You started by low balling the guy. After you sending multiple emails but no payment on an agreed upon deal, the Rolex/Spyderco comment doesn't seem rude or out of line. Especially with your email accusations.

It sucks you didn't get the Spydercos at a cheap price, but no damage has been done. Unfortunate both of your usernames are tied to this thread. I hope future deals go better

You know that is not how it went down at all. My first email to him was if he would take less (the amount i would pay before wasting his time). The second was if he could send the knife which had a centered blade. He just replied they are NIB. Then i explianed why I asked and he replied that he doesn't want to sell to me.

As far as me being trouble. I never was before and i have been on this forum buying and selling for a number of years. Never had a complaint. I am great with communication and fast with shipping and paying.

And if anyone see me selling a Umfann for $600. :) better tell me what THE MOST YOU ARE willing to pay before asking questions or pictures. But don't lowball me afterwards when the knife turns out is perfect in every way! If all you are willing to spend on it is $500. tell me upfront and then lets talk. Okay!

I am done with this thread. The information is there for people to decide who was wrong. but some people don't care to read over it and come to the wrong conclusions.

..And for the final time. I APLOGIZE THIS WAS IN THE WRONG FORUM.

Something worth mentioning. . . . .this thread is a waste of bandwidth.

Based on your whiney BS in this thread. . . .the OP (Lone Ranger) was right and had enough forethought to see a train wreck coming in dealing with you.

yup, and the appropriate forum for this would be whine and cheese where it could be dealt with accordingly

stay with selling snakes, buying knives seems to be troublesome for you...................

You asked if he would take a dollar amount, he agreed. Knife is Sold Pending Funds in my understanding. He decides not to sell for what ever reason. Keeps you from flaking on the deal. Your off the hook. You post a thread which pretty much ruins both of your reps.
Think that about covers it.

No, I don't think Lone Ranger's reputation is damaged at all. :)

First off I have no problem with Lone Ranger, in fact he should be commended with his insight for potential problems.

What part of NIB is difficult to understand? How many places can a person order a knife and get the salesperson to go look a see if the blade is centered? Yes there are a few, but it is certainly not standard procedure.

Colubrid my suggestion to you is when you want that perfect knife, buy 10 and pick out the very best and sell the rest at a discount, because obviously you have checked them out and found them lacking.

Can't say I or anyone knows agree on a price THEN ask the questions about the blade. This is really a no harm no foul situation. LR chose not to sell you and was rude about it (in YOUR opinion anyway). He has done NOTHING wrong and does not deserve a thread dedicated to him doing NOTHING wrong.

I have no issue with any party in this but really mate it is a big mean world sometimes and I think you should be a little thicker skinned about it.

If LR had 2 of the same, and you asked for the best of the two at a discount, this would percieve you as a bit of a high maintenance buyer. You are having issue with Spyderco knives straight from the factory as you disclosed, and with a low ball, you are asking for the best of the two where there may be no difference at all. I would see trouble here also. I would buy from LR, but would not sell to you Colubrid. Shame on you for giving LR a bad review here.

Unbelieveably bad form to post negative feedback on a non-deal because the seller exercised their right of refusal.:thumbdn:

Let me clear up some misconceptions on the Lone anger fracas...Long story short. The Lone ranger was really off base here and I felt he needed a power wash on ethics...

Wow just wow! This was all started in completely bad form. I'm sorry but I don't think that ANY amount of explanation will allow you to see how off base you were with the original contact. You contact Lone Ranger with what sounds like a low ball offer then follow-up later with a request to examine the knife? What would have been more courteous from you, would have been to include a request to check the centering of the blade ALONG WITH the low ball offer based upon the condition of your limited funds. It sounds obvious that you wanted to negotiate from a one sided position and he was correct to avoid dealing with you. This sounds like one of those situations where someone wants another person to take all of the risk for their own benefit. If you want to have that perfect knife maybe the person that recommended that you buy 10 knives and then select the best one for yourself was right. Then you try to sell the remainder to over picky people that negotiate like you tried to do. I'm sorry but I don't see what Lone Ranger did that would warrant your complaint and he sound right to avoid dealing with you.

He needed a power wash on ethics??? Really??? You sound WAY too harsh my friend.

No, I don't think Lone Ranger's reputation is damaged at all. :)

Pretty sure the term is guilt by association. Did LR do anything wrong? No, but someone just doing a quick glance thru GB&U might see his handle pop up, and decide he he trouble. Stranger things have happened.

By Asking Him To Take A Certain Price You Were Saying "Okay Yeah I Want The Knife But For This Price" Then You Asked Him Questions.

Don't Say You Want A Knife And You'll Pay Said Price, Then Start With A Bunch Of Questions.

When I Show Interest In A Knife, When Discussing The Knife I Ask All The Questions Before We Make A Deal. I Try To. I Know Sometimes I Have Messed That Up Myself, But This Is What I Try To Do.

It's completely reasonable to sort out price before anything else if the blade is unseen. I would be miffed if I dealt with a person for a day or so taking pictures and using my time to confirm f&f, and then find out that the person couldn't afford my asking price. The op says he was trying to prevent a giant waste of time; his reasoning is logical. I am not taking sides, mind you. I am simply stating that his thought process was reasonable.

The only mistake the Lone Ranger made was maybe using rude language in his response to the OP. But that's a very minor thing; just don't deal with him again. No need for a thread to bash him. His reputation is intact as far as I am concerned.

The OP, however, I'm not comfortable with. Because I might actually deal with Lone Ranger in the future... but no way in hell am I dealing with the OP. First he wants special deals, then he admits he sends all his Spyderco's back for repairs because they aren't perfectly centered... and then asks you if your knife is perfectly centered. In other words, he's pretty much telling you there is a huge chance that he is not going to be satisfied and he's going to send it back, screw the deal, ask for a refund or further reduction, etc. I would have done the same thing as Lone Ranger; I would have been off like a dirty shirt! This OP throws up red flags like the Chinese army...

I just probably wouldn't have added the jab about Rolexes... which, Lone Ranger, is probably why this is a thread. Lesson learned for you.

The email exchanges we had were literally within minutes or even seconds of each one another. Nobodys time was wasted and there was no work sending pics, or it was over days etc as some suggested.

What some fail to realize are the small details. The exhange we had did take a few minutes and that was it. We were both online at the same time and was as fast as texting.

What is strange is I have gotten emails of support from folks who didn't want to post on this thread. And i don't blame them. Some are just better at seeing through things and don't follow the pack mentality.

Also I have done deals on here, JD, EDC, Glock and have a prefect reputation and history of deals over many years. .

I have done many deals I know what normal behaivior is and what is not. This was not normal abehaviior and i still think it deserved a thread.

As far as dealing with me. That may be your loss. Not mine.

And I have Emails begging me to run for President.

Those that secretly support you do so secretly because they don't want to post here and be told they are wrong, nuts, crazy or what???????

Bottom line; a seller can sell to who he wants to sell to and does not have to sell to those he does not want to sell to and that's the sellers absolute "right" as a seller. If its you the seller has decided not to sell to, you were NEVER considered a buyer of the item and are simply whining. Maybe some cheese with your whine would be fitting and if this thread were to be moved to a forum where one could safely address whining I am certain the cheese served would be delicious!!

At this point I'd vote for just about anyone....
