Long term edc, favorite all around knife

I have beat on my BM 710 for three years and it still works great. Easy to sharpen and durable.

The type of knife I've carried the most (Though not the same one or even same model, and with an approximately decade gap in there) is the humble SAK.

These days I have too many to stick with just one EDC, but in the past, I've carried individual knives for several years straight; a CRKT M-16, Kershaw Blur, and a cheap Coast tanto...

It's not the cheapest, but I have a Microtech M/A LCC that is a great EDC. Strong lock, good steel in 154-CM, excellent design, blade shape, and size for EDC. An excellent knife overall.

Absolute longest EDC: Vic Swisschamp for about 13 years. It sits while I try out new SAK's.

Runner up: Spyderco Endura 4--two years and some change. I still rotate it into EDC when I miss it.

I'd say the Spyderco Endura4. Although the Tenacious has been getting a lot of time in pocket at work, and my RC Izula has been my EDC all summer.

The oldest knife that I have and still use is my Friedrich Herder working knife, I own it for about 15 years now. It is strong and it did the job it had to do, so for many years I didn't need an other knife. But it was not really an EDC knife, it was for working. The EDC knife that I have carried most is my Victorinox Soldier, until I got into knives and bought more SAK's and some other knives, mostly working knife types. Now I'm rotating between several knives, I always carry a SAK, because for me it is a very useful tool.

The three knives I always have with me at different times.

Perfect "office" knife. Scalpel sharp and does everything you could possibly want in an office situation, or elsewhere for that matter. One of my best buys.

I use this when I'm working around the property. You can use it, abuse it and it comes back for more. A serious folder that can handle whatever you throw at it.

Sebenza
I don't know what it is about this knife but it just works. It's slicing ability simply amazes me. It's simplicity is a work of art. It's a joy to own and use.

I have lots of other knives, but I could easily live with these three and nothing else.

SAKs, first the Spartan. 15 years or so, this was the closest thing to my old Boy Scout Knife I could find at the time, I lost it and replaced it with the Climber, I carried it for 25 years or so then retired it, I replaced it with another Climber about 4 years ago and just rescaled it with antler carved bone, I have another Climber with home made tweed micarta for when I'm wearing my musicians hat.

The EDC of 25 years,

The antler carved bone,

And the Vintage Tweed SAK, I usually only carry it when I'm doing music stuff,

I've decided to add the saw and a locking blade so I have a SAK Rucksack on the way and have ordered the Moon Glow II” photo luminescent polyester to rescale it with. This will replace the long line of Climbers.

Spyderco Endura 4 Wave: I seemed to have found the one knife that fills all roles a knife could possibly fill in my daily life. I got it (well several of 'em) when it first came out and I'm pretty sure it'll be the one found in my pocket for the rest of my days.

Regards,

Mine is actually the Spyderco Tenacious. I know it' s a rather cheap knife and I DO have alot of knives that cost about 5 times as much as the Tenacious but...I don' t know it' s just my favorite EDC knife ever. That might change when I get my Sebenza though;)

Long time lurker..

I've been carrying some form of Victorinox SAK since I was given my first at 9yrs of age. (36yrs old now) Had a few different models, but have been carrying the Super Tinker for about the past 12years or so (really like that phillips 'driver)

When I'm "in the woods", whether hunting or fishing, I carry a BM Griptilian.. LOVE that folder.

I rotate about 10 - 12 knives for EDC but the one I always come back to is a 1996 Case red bone canoe.

Two blades, right size (3-5/8") and the rounded edges are real easy in the pocket.

Nice to look at, too.

I've kept a Leatherman Wave on me for going on 5 years now, but it's never been my primary EDC. It's always in the bag. The longest I've kept a primary EDC has been about 3 years with my XM-18. Granted, I've gone through 3 different XM-18s in that time, but it feels like its been just one knife since I really haven't had any break of carrying one XM-18 or another for that time.

i used to carry a kershaw leek on me everyday... the first one made it about 8 years before i lost it when it slid off my pocket at work one day. it was replaced by another i have carried off and on for the last 6 years, often rotating out with a sog twitch 2. the only other knife that has made almost as much pocket time as the leek is my leatherman juice s2, carried daily for 6 years, even before that youtube guy made a video about it and it got all popular.

I suppose that the knife I carried the longest would be a SAK Explorer for some 30 years. Next would be a Military and currently a stainless Byrd Cara Cara, which just refuses to leave my pocket.
