Ok, Im looking at getting another knife, and what Im lookin for is no shorter than 4" and no longer than 5" and no thicker than 3/16...G10 or Micarta handles, not picky on which one, but perfer carbon of some kind...NO choil...want the blade to go all the way drop point. (ESEE 4 would have been the one if not for the choil). Would prefer not to spend more than $150. Any suggestions?

For that budget you could look at Bark River's. Some of them have super tiny sharpening choils, some have none. Might have to spend just a hair more, though.

There's also the ESEE 5, which has no choil. It is 5.25" though..

might be worth it to check out rick hargis, maker here on BF.

i've liked his work on the Fixed Blade section of the exchange. emailed him and had him make me a 5" no choil clip point blade last month. 1095, 3/16". turned out nice. shipped, leather sheath, $150. quick work, too. i haven't gotten a chance to get it out in the woods yet (stupid job), but i think it's going to be a good one.
i'll see if i can find a pic. i'm here at work, so it might not be a good pic. but it sizes out ballpark like a Ratmandu...

Ya both the ESEE 4 and 5 are close but ....the 5 is 1/4 thick as well, but doesnt have the choil...I can find close but no cigar all over. But I dont want a choil for sure and dont want a 1/4 inch thick blade either....hence me asking on here for assistance as Im not having much luck

blind horse knives bushcrafter, woodsman pro, and woodcrafter comes to mind: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/930216-BHK-woodcrafter-reviews-or-pics. bhk usually comes in around the $150 mark.

my bhk bushcrafter. i hated that finger notch though but some like it so giving you a fair warning:

for just a little more ($180), spyderco bushcraft is the best ergonomic handle i've used so far.

what the beckerheads are waiting for are the new 'tweeners...basically the knives that sit between the bk-2 and the bk-7 size-wise. they should come in well below $100 but you'll have to buy the micarta separately though.

(the bottom one is the bk-16):

Bark River Highland Special...Fox River

Or look through all the custom makers here on BF. There's an amazing amount of talent, and you might be suprised at some of the prices. Find one you like that someone already makes, save some money that way.

Ivan Campos could provide what you want. I have one of his incredible Scandi blades (1070), takes an awesome edge.

prowl the exchange here, with that budget you should find something given a little time

Condor Bushlore in micarta, I love mine and I haven't really had a want to fill in the $' category ever since...well, until I saw the BK16 :D

Drop point
4"
Full Tang
1/8" thick
Wonderful sheath

and NO CHOIL!!!

I knew I could count on you guys...

Im liking the BHK Woodsman Pro, not sure on the TOPS , I have not moved to the scandi world yet, but it looks worth considering.

I really like that Andy Sharpe posted up above, change the orange handles and its exactly what Im looking for.

When is the BK16 coming out???? Man with some micarta scales, it might be the one, as you know it will be the cheapest, even with better scales I would bet.

I feel a little better, I was thinking I was just going to have to get a ESEE 4 and deal with the choil as I was not finding much out there with my list of demands....

Release date is apparently 4/1/12 I believe, but heck if I know when they will actually be available

Those tweeners look sweet! The drop point and trailing points..bring 'em!

friends don't let friends buy knives with choils :D i hate choils too! the tentative release of the bk-16 (along with the other 'tweeners) is this april 1st. unofficial price point comes right around $60 so figure in $100 with micarta.

I quite like the TOPS onpoint tactical, well within your budget as well.
