Looking at options

I'd really like a coated, thin stock INFI GW. Color variations aren't that important as long as it is not yellow or orange!

I don't think the was a coated orange version, at least not in the original run. There was a thin one with orange G10 and Satin and some fat ones in Satin with Oange & Back G10, but I don't think I've seen a coated one. Too bad you don't want yellow, because I think I have an extra DR Wardn (Black with Yellow G10). I'll check my GW drawer and PM you if I have any extras that might meet your needs.

Question on the coating- is the black a "thicker" coating, or does it just look that way in pictures? I've seen a lot of Busse coatings, and the black always seemed rougher or thicker than the others.

I haven't noticed black being particularly thicker (or thinner) than other GW coatings. Moss Green and Hammered Silver are noticeably ticker than other coatings I've seen, but they weren't available when the GWs came out.

And a comment- I never thought about black and yellow! I was thinking more of the yellow and brown, yellow and green variations I've seen. Yellow and black might be pretty darn BA

Thank you for the info. Sometimes it is hard to tell when looking at different pictures from different lighting, angles, and cameras.

Question, what is a DR Warden?

A typo. It should be SAR Warden (Search and Rescue).

During the original run, GWs were released in batches, one handle/blade combo at a time. Each combo was given its own name. Black with Yellow G10 was dubbed the "SAR Warden."

After looking through a lot of pictures I find myself wandering if the scales can be changed. Is that a CS thing? Do people generally like the ergos so much that they keep the original scales, or are there custom options available? Having not held one at all, it's just some of the things I wonder about while searching. Did look up the SAR Warden, the black blade over yellow looked pretty cool.

Not entirely a CS thing. Some folks have had aftermarket slabs put on by a knifemaker or modifier here on the forum.
