Looking for a big knife

I’m going to throw out one more suggestion and it’s not what the OP asked for but…how about a Kukri? I’m going to get flamed for this but anything a bowie can do, a kukri can do better. Better chopper, great slasher, good penetration, more storied history as a weapon of war, and BIGGER

Its a beautiful Machete what's the blade length and steel used in it?

Technically, it’s a kukri. Looks similar to a machete but there are differences in length, shape and thickness of the blade. This is a 12” blade and 3v steel. If you get interested in kukris, they are made out of many different steel types, lots of them have traditional wooden handles and they come in all different designs.

I really like the Cold Steel kukris. It’s a modern take on a very traditional design

As a chopper it's hard to beat a Khuk. But for fine camp chores it doesn't come close to a straight blade. Which is why the original traditional Nepalese Khuks all come with a small knife.

Mavrick: You have tersely indicated that you would like to have a Randall #1, but with a longer blade.

Well, Randall Made will, I think, make such a knife for you. The standard length for the #1 is 7", but they will make them shorter or longer. Nine inches may be their upper limit for that knife.

For something really big, you might ask if they will make one of their larger Bowe models with the #1 profiles . . .but you gotta ask them. As long as you are ordering off menu, look at what the #1 blade profile with a saw teeth gring looks like, BUT WITHOUT the saw teeth.

The cost will be high, and the wait will be long, but the long delivery time just gives you time to make payments along the way.
