Ok so my gf needs a good pocket knife so I am going to get her one for Xmas. I am a pretty avid knife guy but I usually prefer larger blade and not sure that will work for her. She is pretty tiny 4'10" and about 90 lbs. Thinking a smaller knife with about 3" blade eshould be about right size. I prefer it and things and am not a huge fan of spyderco but since it is for her they aren't completely out of the question. So let's hear recommendations in about the $150 price range

benchmade 940-2, light knife that carries much smaller than it is. a wee tad over budget though. now for the real advice, if she wants a knife, go somewhere with a good selection and let her choose. if she dont like it i can promise you she wont look at it more than twice... its all about her tastes, we cant tell you what she will like and wont like.

How about you show her some of your knives and see what she prefers. Rather than a 3" blade, size just might matter to her.

It might be best to take her someplace and let her handle a good selection of knives so that she can pick out what she likes.

Does she want a pocket knife?

Because I've given pocket knives to women who actually asked for them and they didn't get carried. I can imagine giving one unsolicited will be a popular gift.

Don't forget a Swiss Army Knife. She might find the extra tools (scissors, file, etc) extremely helpful as opposed to "just a knife". Plus they come in funky colors and prints which she might like. SAKs wont run close to $150 but you can get some other stuff too. A good, small flashlight might be useful too if she doesn't have one already.

^^ this ^^

I was gonna recommend a small multi-tool, for the exact same reasons.

My wife asked for a knife a while back, as we do a lot of camping and hiking. She even picked it out. Ends up she almost never carries it. But she does carry one of her two or three MT's constantly. Heck, her favorite is a little Craftsman that she put in MY stocking a few years ago (surprisingly good quality btw).

You can get a Leatherman Squirt or Juice in a variety of flavors, relatively cheaply. And I'm sure there's a host of other small ones out there, both higher quality and dime-store offerings.

I guess I should have clarified, she already carries a small pocket knife with about a 2.5" blade. Said she wants a new one that is nicer as it is a Remington cheapo. The blade size seems about right for her. Let her use my zt0452 today and she just had problems deploying it and wanted something a bit shorter

Ask her if she'd be interested in any one of these:

They are all tip down, and I don't carry them.

If she's interested, PM me and I'll send one over on my dime. Saves you some X-mas cash and she gets a knife, win-win...

Im getting my mom a pink mini grip for christmas. Shes 4'10" as well and likes the looks of the pink mini grip over everything iv shown her including the spyder ladybug and dragonfly. Normal grip, not the ritter. Easy and simple to deploy, and great steel. And benefits breast cancer.
