Looking for a good knife for girlfriend

I don't know why guys always think we need a special knife. I don't speak for all women, but I know for myself, I usually like the same knives my male friends like. I carry an XM-18 3.5" bowie as my EDC pocket knife. We don't need pink knives, pink guns.

And I mean absolutely no offense to the post above me, but for me personally if anyone gave me a pink knife I would stab them with it, lol.

Just pick a knife that you think is good and I'm sure she will love it. Spyderco of some sort, perhaps PM3 that's coming out, or a classic like the Spyderco Police. I used to carry that and the PM2 I thought both are great. Also fit your price range pretty well. Police is about $120-$130 and you could probably get a brand new PM2 on the exchange for under $120.

i guess i should have clarified, she already carries a small pocket knife with about a 2.5" blade. Said she wants a new one that is nicer as it is a remington cheapo. The blade size seems about right for her. Let her use my zt0452 today and she just had problems deploying it and wanted something a bit shorter

zt 0450 cf

SevenofNine, I know what you mean. If I got her a pink knife I would definitely be stabbed with it. I was thinking of getting her one that I would like but I figured if I could find one in a blue/light blue that I like it would just be a plus. I think a zt or a benchmade would be nice. Not a huge fan of spyderco but she may like a pm2

Boy, my wife has me spoiled. Anything in purple, and I mean anything, and she's happy!

Got her a purple ladybug and DF 2 so far.

BM Mini grip, Spyderco Native 5/Delica 4 FFG, Lionsteel Opera, or Kizer has several around the $100-140 range with some nice handles (Kizer Cutlery Activ Bantam for example).

Does she carry a flashlight? If she doesn't carry one, put $10-12 of that knife money into a key chain flashlight. If she can appreciate a knife, I think she would appreciate a flashlight. I like the Olight I3E myself. Klarus Mi02 and Fenix E01 are good choices too. Good luck!

seven of one, thank you for the comment above, you just made my day. I was thinking the same thing about the color.

Benchmade mini-grip would be my top choice. Nice compact package with a very usable blade. Easily open and closed either one or two handed. Of course a Spyderco Delica could be a solid option as well or a Native in the configuration that you think she would like the most.

Ok so currently looking at a Kershaw link and a benchmade mini grip. They both come in a fairly bright blue and seem to be a good size. Anyone have experience with both?

Benchmade gentleman's Lerch Impel auto. Its small, discreet and cool. I think most women will want a smaller discreet knife.

Yep, mini grip is much overrated and the cheapest feeling BM I've ever owned. The link is kickass although a bit heavy. I'm actually carrying one today.

I know the OP said he wasn't crazy about Spyders, but some of them are very easy to manipulate by smaller hands. My wife is also shortish and weighs under a buck. These are the "Blues" that come to mind.

I've always thought the stepped Chaparral looked interesting. But a tad out of budget. I only have the standard CF/G10 Chap. It is a very easy to love knife.

Someone already mentioned the Memory.

Based on these and similar thoughts expressed in this thread, I decided to consult with my wife. Although she has no particular interest in knives as such, in the past she has chosen good samples for kitchen and utility purposes, and has a good sense for quality. I'm the knifeknut in the family, but she owns a SAK Climber, which I had given her as a birthday gift decades ago, and a more recent Leatherman Squirt S4, another gift, both of which she uses and has said she liked. So I opened my Delica, handed it to her and asked her opinion. She said it looked like a weapon and found it off-putting, didn't like it at all. She asked me what it was for, and was skeptical when I replied it was just a pocket knife. She is all for multi-tools, ice cold on dedicated knives. Can this marriage be saved :D.

Frankly, I think those views reflect the majority, and those women who respond positively to bladed things are both few, or just bonding with their partners (nothing wrong with that!) I know the sample is small, but over my longish life, that seems to have been representative of what I have observed about women in general. And yet, the only person in my circle of friends and acquaintances with whom I can talk knives is a woman! Go figure.

You're going about this all wrong. I think you should find the perfect knife for YOU and then find a girlfriend who likes it! Right? Win win.

That said, I think that Mcusta Bluesbender has is a great knife! So much style to it (I've actually been wanting one for a while). Get it for your girlfriend and, if she doesn't like it, send it to me!

It's the right size, beautifully made for the price, easy to manipulate, lightweight...

This is the only knife my wife has shown any interest in:
