Hey Guys,

Looking to buy a nice outdoorsy folding knife, primarily for camping and hiking. I bought a BM Mini Crooked River, got a poor QC example and frankly for the price I paid I'm a little disappointed with it overall so it's going back.

I figured I can either stare at knife videos and look through endless pages of knives till my eyes bleed or I can ask you fine folks for some suggestions.

Looking for something modern but with a touch of that classic feel and with nice styling (not just a basic FRN scale knife). Phosphor bronze washers preferred but not a deal breaker. Blade no larger than 3.5" in a good steel. Not a huge back flipper fan but if the knife is nice enough, also no autos or assisted knives.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks guys, liking the suggestions.

I have a couple fixed blades but not comfortable strapping those to my belt in a Provincial Park, you get some looks.

🤷‍♂️ Looks can’t hurtcha.

If it has to be a folder I’d recommend a BM Presidio. They’re bombproof and the blade shape/grind works great for wood or anything else you’re likely to run into.

A smallish fixed blade, horizontal on the belt is super comfortable, unobtrusive and doesn't garner too much attention

A pocket sheath also works for fixed blade knives 7.5" or shorter.

For backwoods or serious hikes I definitely go for a fixed blade but not around campgrounds. Usually wearing shorts or light clothing without belts and I don't like to draw the Yogie's attention too much. I'm just looking for a nice knife to carry when something needs cutting not so much a bushcrafter. Nothing agro or intimidating. Going for something a little more on the classy side that I can use around the campground without drawing much attention

Oo nice, wish more of them had the name of the knife though. Do you know what the knife posted by Powerslave on page 1 is? Beautiful, but looks like it might be a bit big.

If you see a pic, you can add @ to the name and that will alert the poster to the question you ask. I.E. @D4v30 or you can send a profile post.

I've always loved the Vanguard.
