Recommendation? looking for a small high quality fixed blade edc type knife

You wished for more options for different scales on the BRK City knife. I placed a preorder a couple of hours ago. There are more than fifty materials to choose from! Were you looking for unicorn horn?

I saw that preorder. I wish there were options for different scales.

Yeah, depending on whose website you were looking at, I think you might have missed their spreadsheet of handle material (unless you saw it and what you wanted was discontinued or a material they can no longer obtain).

I absolutely missed that. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Here I go down the rabbit hole.

Sorry - forgot you were looking for 3"range (I guess that means I stick my nose in too many of this type of thread)

Second the CPK EDC models.
Another great alternative for the described use would be the OKT (@Osprey Knife & Tool) Warthog. Superb slicey blade in CPM-154 with beautiful f&f and many different handle/liner options. This would be a unique custom build and is within your price range. Lots of pics available in the OKT subforum and on IG.

ETA: That’s a Warthog in my profile pic...

My latest Bark River. It's the Mini Kephart. Blade is 3.8" and 7.5" overall length with a normal leather vertical belt sheath. You could easily edc this one. I am considering just that. They call this handle black herringbone micarta. I have posted this picture a couple of times and you may have seen it. I haven't used it yet and have only owned it for about a week. It was my "birthday knife".

It is pretty hard to find stainless steel with all desired properies of non stainless steels. Like ease of sharpening, toughness... and price.

I ended up getting a Lionsteel M1 and a Bark River Essential. But now that I know about all of these other knife makers, this year’s wish list has already begun.
The M1 is a good one. I have not purchased one of the LionSteel fixed blades yet, but one will eventually appear. I just bought a Arno Bernard Bush Baby Series, Squirrel model and it will get carried once I get past the desk fondling stage. I have a huge attraction to fixed blades, and I am trying to become more accustomed to using one over a folder. I know how it is with considering the next one.

I was never fond of folders.
Fixed blade is more simple, easier to maintain, stronger and more durable, safer and also cheaper.
