Looking for a Stout, Chunky, Overbuilt Folder

Boker pipsqueak its short and fat but still gives a great full grip and is s35vn steel with ti framelock and micarta scale, i love mine F/F is really well done since its not the plus line from china its the german made branch

How thick is the stock on the blade?

How do you conceal a fixed blade? I don't like when people see that I have a knife on me.

In a pocket, in a sheath, IWB? a myriad of ways. Depends on the knife obviously.
But why would it matter if anyone sees it? carrying a large thick folder clipped in your pocket is very noticeable.

755 MPR and stop buying shit, you'll ultimately be happier putting out a little more money.

With that said my own philosophy is: I don't like to pay more than 60 bucks for a knife because I beat them up...so I get Cold Steel stuff, good, cheap and ready to roll.

Youve already made like 5 similar threads to this w/ a crazy amount of suggestions :thumbdn:

Sorry dude. My bad. I don't think they were similar. My first was to find the most heavy duty knife in the world, second was to find the knife with the widest blade, and I made a thread looking for a knife with a cleaver style blade. Now i'm looking for an overbuilt, chunky, stout folder. What's the big deal?

Yes.

Could give a kershaw JYD 2.2 a try. I think Kershaw guy has blems for cheap. Really heavy duty knife for the price, plus it has the composite blade with cpm-d2 edge.

I'll take that Quartermaster if you don't want it :)

I can suggest the ZT 0550. The most overbuilt but not totally unwieldy folder I have ever seen. Also a Spyderco Manix 2 is shockingly stout.

Sorry, I already returned the Quartermaster so that I could have money for a new knife. And I already have a Manix 2. I love the thing. Not a fan of ZT.

I live in Chicago and the cops really don't take kindly to seeing someone of my age and my "look" having a knife in their pocket. I don't use pocket clips, I just let the knife sit in my back right pocket.

I have been craving a Demko A-10 for a while now. From everything I have read, there are not many knives that can come close to that tri lock.

I have an AD10 and it is one awesome folder but he has a long waiting list and is only allowed to do 30 custom knives a year because of his contract with Cold Steel. Andrew Demko is a great guy to deal with and the AD10 is one very well built folder!!

If you dont mind the wait then I would like to recommend Alan Davis. He will make you a folder the way you want it! He has been very busy but if you talk to him and are not in a big hurry he can make you one just the way you want it.

If you just want a production then there are several from Cold Steel, Benchmade, Spyderco, and Kershaw that would do the trick! GOOD LUCK! Kevin :D

I think the buck/tops CSAR T IS THE MOST OVERLOOKED overbuilt knife on the market . It's priced right as well.

I like the recommendations for the Medford Praetorian and the Direware. Those are some chunky, overbuilt beastly blades.

I see tons of threads like this so I gotta ask - is this a form or function kinda deal?

A lot of good heavy duty, overbuilt folders have come to the surface at relatively the same time so I think that's why the topic has gained so much notoriety. Just my theory. I could be totally wrong. Hope I don't sound like a dumbass.

Best hard use folder on the market, especially for the money is the Benchmade Adamas imo. I will stick with that until it is proven otherwise. Demko looks nice but a $500+ knife won't see much hard use in my hands. If a modified Tanto is what you are looking for then check out the Tops/Buck CSAR-T. My only complaint with this knife is that the double liner lock is very tough to disengage. Fit and finish isn't perfect on the knife I have but it is a tank for under $100.
