Looking for a Stout, Chunky, Overbuilt Folder

I'd second the Techno for a production blade, or the 755 MPR. You might like the Three Sisters Forge Beast or your grail (mine too) would prob be a Michael Burch (Burchtree Bladeworks) Midtech if you could find one *his books are closed for now so seconday market = big $$$.

Since you don't like ZT I suggest DPx Gear HEST/F 2.0 folders. They come mostly with D2 steel but the Milspec one has Sleipner steel. The blades are 0.19" thick! Made by LionSteel of Italy and quality. They also include RotoBlock which makes the folder into a fixed blade, titanium frame lock, glass breaker clip screw and bottle opener.

Stout, chunky, overbuilt in order of my preference
Spyderco Techno
Strider PT
Benchmade 755 mpr
Boker Albatross
Kershaw Baby boa or half ton
SOG Bluto
DPX is coming out with some interesting small folders but I am not sure of a ETA

The Techno really does fit the bill. It's small but effective for most anything. I would also recommend a ZT 0550 for a bigger knife. I'm offering nothing new here I see hehe, but I have experience with these two and they are good to go. ZT0300 is probably the epitome of what you are looking for, I never had one but def worth checking out.

The Burch Dao is one of my top 3 on my wish list. They are virtually impossible to find though as you mentioned.

I live in Chicago and the cops really don't take kindly to seeing someone of my age and my "look" having a knife in their pocket. I don't use pocket clips, I just let the knife sit in my back right pocket.
You know there's a 2.5" blade length limit in Chicago, right?

I totally missed the Chicago part. I know the SOG Bluto fits the required specs, but I don't know about anything else other than a small fixed blade.

I have a ZT 0350 that has replaced my Spyderco Gayle Bradley as my EDC here on the farm. If you are not a ZT fan the BM 755 is a great little knife.

You want shorter and chunkier? Medford Panzer, Three Sisters Forge CCT, Dalibor Draco.

Out of those three, you'll have the least difficulty acquiring a TSF.

Good luck.
