Slowly makin some progress. G flex epoxy arriving Thursday if on schedule. Trying to make etching solution better which is going slow cause nights been cooler temps. Had some help today working on american hop hornbeam scales. He wanted to soak a piece over night with a brick on it to see if could break it with hammer. Told em he was too lil to acid etch and dont have enough ppe for em to be allowed to watch. He said what can i do then...thought a moment and said well you can use the sulfuric acid in an onion to make a patina.

Current composition of weak scid etching solution
..
Itll suffice for now...have got 2 wads of 0000 steel wool in it.

When need a bigger batch have learned from these experiments to simply use 1 part muriatic acid to two parts (18 percent hydrogen peroxide from beauty supply store watered down with distilled water to 5 percent) and one tab of steel wool per 1400 mL of solution as well as a table spoon of lemon juice. Have compared prices of ferric chloride solution in various sizes both liquid and dried powders and cant figure out a more cost effective solution than this.

Test run of solution and can see the heat spots that was generated where took a cut off wheel on angle grinder (small wire spiraled around rectangular frame to hold the coils in place is what cut) to the mattress spring steel going use for pins so hopefully it works better for anaylyzes of heat treatments in the future then it did first time tried.
