Looking for my first Mid-Tec and would love suggestions.

ADV knives are awesome, I gotta say. Such a unique design, I would get his knives if they weren't frame locks. Everything else about them is on point.

If I had your budget, I would get:
Todd Bodega Mini Bodega (frame lock, but the aesthetics make up for it)
Tighe Tac Two (Probably cant post links, but theres one on gpknives for $550)
Cold Steel 62rm 4 max (overbuilt)

I would go with an ADV knife since there aren't really any other knives that look like them. And they look awesome. If you want more subtle knives, I would get a Tighe knife, Todd Begg knife, or similar. You could join the Sebenza fanboy club, but it isn't a flipper. My friend has one though, and it is a pretty solid knife.

At the end of the day, the sort by price option is your best friend :)

Yea I keep getting suggestions on getting a Seb. To but honest they never did much for me. I dont really like frame locks but I like flippers. I figure it would be more of a fondling knife and flippers are great for fondling.

Greetings,

Funny how it starts with a Delica, Griptilian, etc. and then before you know it USPS is carefully (or not carefully sometimes) delivering a Sebenza (or other mid-tech) to your door. Within a year the KAS overtakes you and all of the sudden a handmade knife is on the radar. I digress.

Go for a Chris Reeve knife (either today or this year), in my opinion, every knife person should own a Sebenza at least once, just so darn well made; perfection and art and don't forget the history of the Sebenza design. Like it or not, it is a benchmark that many (dare I say most) are compared to.

I really enjoy the Southard Tolk, but of course I have a handmade on my radar so I am selling mine...

This right here....awesome. Sebenza never really did anything for me either, and frame locks are an inferior design to lockbacks.

I just spent 15 mins searching through knives at knifecenter, and the only one I found that was anywhere close to the style of ADV with a lockback was the Lionsteel TM1. I guess frame lock is only option? There were a LOT of great looking knives that I saw that I would buy if they weren't frame locks, I must say.

Southard Tolk. Lightweight but strong, very versatile blade, plenty to hang on to, and good flipper that can also be opened with your thumb.

Oh, I forgot to mention, Freeman 451 BLF is a very inexpensive midtech (though I don't think Mr. Freeman calls them that) that has exceptional flipping action and a button lock.

If you like the ADV Mini Butcher I can say that the flipping action is great and they do come up for sale every now and then on the forum. Its your money but if you spend it on the forum you are supporting our obsession rather than some questionable business habits.

This one is mine and I love it and it makes it into my carry rotation pretty often.

Sure you did. You said to PM you if he wanted to discuss buying it. Then he said no but thanks for offering. And, what, you were offended by that?.. Cause you did offer dude. He just asked what they go for.

Very interesting knife. Ill check more into this and for $200 bucks its very affordable. I am also a sucker for moon glow ( bought that stupid manix 2xl only because it glows). You ever hold one in person?

Thats a valid point. I was on the fence about it due to some things I heard regarding lock stick. Any issues with yours?

I bought mine "lightly carried" which to me, means broken in, and I have no lock stick what-so-ever on this one. Used they run closer to $300-$350 which makes them a little more attainable in my mind.

I also have a Mini Bodega on order that I am stoked about, lots of others have posted that as an option, I hope it lives up to the full size in performance.

Yup. Fantastic flipper and very good F&F. It's not overly heavy, but a beast nonetheless. Just be careful, once you hit the button lock the blade will drop like a guillotine.

ZT 0452cf smooth flipper carries small.

I will buy this knife. And looks like you got the purple one from usamadeblade. Its got a huge blade to weight and looks like the flipping actions on point. I got a 0450 that is one of my favorites. Does the Ano get ride of the warranty?

I emailed him asking about the glow insert. If he can still get it , that might be a winner. I will probably but another knife like the 452cf. I think the flipping action on my 560 is not so great. Any thing else production wise that's a excellent flipper?
