Looking for my first Mid-Tec and would love suggestions.

Southard Avo and Southard Tolk are two of the best flippers I have encountered. The Avo is the perfect gentlemen's folder (IMO), excellent size handle, ergonomics and well everything is just perfect (well, it could have M-390 steel). The Tolk has perfect flipping action and the thumb stud is a good alternate opening method. For me, it is just a tad the large size for my use as a gentlemen's folder.

I emailed him asking about the glow insert. If he can still get it , that might be a winner. I will probably but another knife like the 452cf. I think the flipping action on my 560 is not so great. Any thing else production wise that's a excellent flipper?

Buck 830 Marksman has great action. No pinch point once you're past the, for lack of a better word, detent, so the blade just swings freely.

I will buy this knife. And looks like you got the purple one from usamadeblade. Its got a huge blade to weight and looks like the flipping actions on point. I got a 0450 that is one of my favorites. Does the Ano get ride of the warranty?

I did get it at USAMadeBlade from Whitty. The anodizing does not effect the warranty. I love this knife. The camera really does not do the anodizing justice. Here's another look.

I emailed them and they are sadly out and wont be getting any more in for a while :-( I love me some purple on a knife.

I love mine too. Easily in my top three knives as it is perfect in every way. No need for purple here...

Sure you did. You said to PM you if he wanted to discuss buying it. Then he said no but thanks for offering. And, what, you were offended by that?.. Cause you did offer dude. He just asked what they go for.

Oh, I forgot to mention, Freeman 451 BLF is a very inexpensive midtech (though I don't think Mr. Freeman calls them that) that has exceptional flipping action and a button lock.

I just picked one up! should be here soon. I'll throw up a pic. I love the 450, looking forward to its larger version.

Picked this up today as well. Should have it in a few days. Though about it for a while and realized this ticked few boxes. Mostly with that crazy blade shape and the hole the reminded me of RadKnives which I probably will never cough up the cash to get. But its Ti has decent steel and its a flipper. Also its a 3.75" blade around 5oz. 2oz less than a ADV Butcher and no wait to get one.

2 things:

-He's not making mid-techs, him and his wife do everything in-house.
-He's over OP's budget, typically starting around $650 and more often in the $700-1,000+ range.
I was going to say on the 2nd hand market he is right around the top or slightly above the ops price range. I thought his knives fit quite well but I see your point!

Yea, some of his more basic knives might be had for that price, but they will be basic. I've seen some L51's sell second-hand for nearly 1k! I payed $750 for mine.

Looks like OP made his mind up anyways:D

Im still shopping actually. As neither of the knives I picked I would consider MidTechs...right? Still thinking ADV butcher, but had my eye on a CKF also. Might wait until next week to pick it up. I broke my one knife a week rule this week.

Trying very hard to not order that Protech tr-5 assisted. Just looks super cool

No need to be snide buddy, I was just trying to help you out. Your post was vague, and I was adding clarification.

Sorry for discussing knives with you:thumbdn:
