Looking for titanium framelock for $200.00

Perhaps if the OP can only afford $200, and if that is his absolute limit, maybe someone on this thread promoting the Sebenza would be willing to sell him their used Sebenza for $200. How cool would that be.

I gave serious consideration to buying a large Sebenza years ago. I could have easily afforded it. I liked the looks of the Bradley Alias 1 better. I've carried and used the Bradley for 5 years now and have been quite happy with my choice. Since I've never had one single complaint with the Bradley, and since it has never failed me in any way, I don't see how I would have benefited by spending the extra $150 for a Sebenza. 5 years and still going strong.

Thatd be cool for him, but this guys never going to part with his seb haha.

I see your point, the alias is made from premium materials and I honestly think it will last you the rest of your life if you take care of it. Honestly, even though I have a seb, I want an alias, particularly the blue anodized version. Damn nice looking knife. But tue alias, made by benchmade, isn't even close to the sebenza in it's tolerances, gets old hearing that, but it's true. I've yet to see another knife where the blade tension could be adjusted by the pivot screw tension and the stop pin screw tension. Then the seb has the whole deal with the pivot bushing and such, again you've probably heard it before. The difference is basically to me an omega vs a rolex. Both are premium high end products, and both are luxuries. Let's face it, it's not ad much as a seb, but the alias is an expensive knife. It's just prefrence, that's all it is in the end.

I know that some hardcore rolex guys might have an issue with this, but a few years back I was in the position to get a 42mm Planet Ocean or a Sea Dweller. I decided to go with the planet ocean for $2k less than the rolex based on a lot of research and my own personal preferences. Many low to mid luxury (I say that because that is what Rolex and Omega are) watch collectors view the Planet Ocean as AT LEAST on par with the quality of the Rolex. Now in recent years, I have noticed there isn't quite as much of a price difference than there was a few years go. It is a great analogy except, I don't really see many people saying that the alias is at least on par with a seb as I am asserting here with the rolex and omega comparison.

I bought my first CRK, a Wilson Combat 'StarTac' version of the Umnumzaan (S30V), slightly larger than a large Sebenza, 9/10 to commemorate my first SS retirement check. It joined my original attempt to satiate my Sebenza desires - a Buck 172 Mayo TNT, bought discontinued for ~$160 a couple of years earlier (They are tough to find now!). Great savings - a fine Buck knife - but no Sebbie, that's quite evident. Last summer, I was leaving a local store with a pair of knives I had lusted for - I had to stop and look at the stash of new (S35VN) small Sebbies that just arrived. As I pulled out of the parking lot, I did the mental arithmetic - my 'deal' price on the pair was within a dollar of the small plain Sebbie's price - I circled the block and returned - the salesman swapped even! Believe me, it was worth it - what a fine heirloom of a knife! Real 'quality'! My wife got the salesman to hold the other two knives for her and would gift me them at the end of the month on my birthday. She is a keeper. The Benchmade 480-1 Shoki at the bottom was one of the two other knives. Super 'Gent's' knife - m390 blade, CF scales, Ti liners.

But... if you have to stay at or below the $200 limit, there are fine choices. I love the BM 790 Subrosa... but my favorite EDC is the Shane Sibert designed BM 755 MPR - a heavy built shorty, with Ti/G10 construction - and a .164" thick x 2.9" blade of Bohler m390 steel. Second place EDC goes to my ZT-0551 - the ElMax bladed original that begot the ZT0550. Super knife. Here is my EDC 755 (bottom), a Boker #110623 Neil Blackwood designed Pipsqueak (S35VN), and a backup 755BK (top). That German-made 'Pipsqueak' is a Ti-framed/Micarta scaled chunk of a knife - nicely made.

PS I use my 'free' cellphone to find the time of day - my Casio hasn't had a battery since Reagan was President... I spend bucks on knives - not bling! YMMV.

i have EDC'd a BM 790 subrosa for over a year now. Its my favorite knife.

I would highly suggest you pick one up. you will not be dissapointed.

I've got an lfti on the way, I've sampled a few in stores but haven't bought one till now. Very smothe action, doesn't have the sebenza tolerances, but a very nice knife from what I've seen. If you don mind the tanto blade, or the high tip up carry, I'd say go for it, knifeworks has a screaming deal on them. Plus you get cpm-m4 steel. I still maintain that if you really want a sebenza to save for one. There really isnt a true sebenza substitute.

Boker epicenter but I would only buy it if they have fixed it which I have no clue if they have

Boker_Plus_Epicenter.jpg

The boker Epicenter is not even close to a Sebenza. A friend has one of the 2nd runs and the fit Nd finish is still bad.
I would also stay away from the boker Anso knives
Stick with the BM Subrosa, Protech, or Alias. All very nice

I would like to like that Boker Plus Epicenter but the handle looks slippery, failing the whole knife in my book.

He handle is actually not slippery. It feels great in the hand. The knife in general is an awesome design and I'd like to have one. Just poor execution of an awesome design.

Thought an update would appropriate to this thread. After a few months of saving, I was able to purchase a used small sebenza from a fellow member for an awesome price.
It arrived yesterday and I couldnt be happier. Birthdate of April 4th, 2012 so it is basically new. Thank you TCurry for my new addition.

Mines finish wasn't bad at all, but the lock geometry was horrible. Lock rock in like 10 minutes.
