Looking for tough heavy use folder

So the Gayle Bradley, probably the one knife that fits all your requirements, gets zero love? Its been mentioned half a dozen times. That Dua is a monster in your pocket, just sayin.

Hmmm how do i say this without upsetting lots of knife fans... Im not a huge fan of Spyderco or the designs they use on their blades. The shape of the blades really doesn't do it for me and i find it somewhat off putting. I want a knife i like the look of too, call me stupid if im going to turn down the best blade i could get cause i dont like the look of it, but as i have stated i like knives and want something im proud to carry around all day and actually enjoy all aspect of it.

I dont doubt its great, like many of the options, but like buying a car you have to picture yourself with said car/knife and the Gayle Bradley just doesn't do it for me.

Go to Youtube and search on Medford Praetorian. To me, it is the heaviest use folder I've ever seen. Put it in your pocket and your girlfriend/wife will think you are very happy to see her. It is truly a beast. Some Youtuber (Killerelite 71) did a comparison video comparing it to an XM-24, Grayman sato, etc, and it freakin' dwarfed them. I think it took the contents of an entire Titanium mine to build one.

I have the benchmade 15020. It stays in my drawer. I thought I would love it but it is a little big and heavy, for me. Hope it fits the bill for ya.

Of the knives I actually own, the BM 755 MPR is the most heavy duty knife, even stacking up well against my XM-18. Bohler M390 super steel is a fantastic blade metal. And it is both thick and light. 3" blade, Ti frame lock with G-10 scale. Photo below:

What a beast! I've never a knife so rugged and beefy. I gotta Google it and see how much!

They are $600 for the standard Praetorian and $1200 for the Ti version. That Ti version with the bronze treatment is one of the sexiest knives I have ever seen. I might be out of my mind right now, so I will sleep on it, but I think I am going to order one of those Praetorian Ti's. Need to do some video and pic searching to see some size comparisons as this will be a knife I actually want to carry and use the hell out of.

The Benchmade 810 Contego may be a good candidate. It's built like a brick s**thouse and the reverse tanto blade shape really makes for a strong tip. I'd never use a knife like a prybar but if I did, I'd probably use this one. As with most modern folders, it's built to a tight tolerance which means there are always going to be tight spaces for dirt to hide. This is especially true around the lock area. The only downside I can think of is the fact that I find the ergos to be a bit strange on this knife if not wearing a glove. You would also want to take good care of it since M4 will rust on ya!

Another spectacular blade to consider would be the Spyderco Manix XL. The ergos are my absolute favorite and the jimping is second to none. The thing just seems to melt into my hand. I'm not sure it is quite as beefy as the 810 contego but you can still beat the crap out of it and expect it to hold up quite well. Ive also found that the ball lock is one of the most reliable and low maintenance designs out there. Only downside on this one is that the tip isn't as strong as the BM 810 so keep that in mind.

Lastly, I've learned to stay away from production knife manufacturers that go out of their way to market their folders as "hard use". Just my 2 cents.....

Holy schmolie! I guess that would be the last knife I'd ever own! I'd have to a handcuff on it!

Six month lead time on the Praetorian full-titanium. I got the info from Greg in email last night. Very responsive to Qs but I don't know if I can wait that long!

I love that little guy, but I have a lot of lateral blade-play as the pivot is rounding-out the G10 side.

I have read all the posts and the two none Spyderco knives I suggest are the ZT 0250 and the Hest. I have both and like the ZT better, it is large but carrying it I don't really feel it. The hest is great and a nice open handle but is a little small in the handle this smaller handle is why I don't suggest the ZT 0350. For a cheaper option I carry as a work beater an American Lawman, great ergos and I have had no problem batoning/chopping/stabbing with it. As for the lock I trust it with my fingers every day.

How about spyderco gayle bradley, nice looking folder, excellent F@F,very good blade steel and tough as nails.

I would stick with a liner lock or frame lock I work on heavy equipment and lock backs are not the best choice they get crap in them and are hard to clean out i know I used a spyderco persian for awile and had to clean it every cople hours or it wouldnt lock all the way.

I have to agree about waiting. I just sent an email to Greg this morning and got a call back from him within 15 minutes saying he could achieve everything I was looking for. The only that is holding me back is the sheer girth of this knife. After all, I am not a collector, but a user and i want to carry this thing. I use every knife no matter its value and quickly sell off ones that don't satisfy me.

But now, after hearing form you that the wait time is six months, I don't think I will do anything just yet. I don't even like waiting a few days for something to ship so I would probably lose interest in the knife all together if I had to wait that long...

To the original poster, I would have to suggest either Grayman Dua or Three Sisters Forge Beast Folder.

I have owned the Three Sister's Beast and it is built like a Sherman Tank with awesome Elmax steel. It is also very easy to carry as it is a very manageable size. Even though they rarely have inventory ready to ship, they can usually build and ship pretty quickly.

I also have no idea of your budget...
