Looks like the k2s are being liquidated.....

could be both sticky lock and very late lock up. I saw quite a few people mentioned or showed these two things although personally I would worry less about the late lock up.

Yeah those are it. After researching it a little I got a k2 on the way. The price was right.

Which fixed blade has 10v and is no longer than k2 when stored and has the same blade length and costs only $150?

Didn't know those were your specific requirements when I posted. If you just need a reliable knife in the space of your garage, a fixed blade seems to fit the need quite well....that's all I'm saying ;)

And to be transparent, I own a K2. Wonderful blade. Hope you find the right blade for your garage.

I don't need one of these.......

But it's not terrible value for a 10V spyderco folder the size of a bus......

😁 who am I kidding.... I'll probably cave in.

I am tempted to get one just so I can do a reprofile and a regrind. Thats a pretty big piece of 10v to work with. :D

I'm sure if I hadn't owned one I'd jump on this deal. But the K2 was a knife that I unboxed, opened and immediately photographed, reboxed and sold. In my medium hand the wide, thin, boxy handle was very uncomfortable. It's also a big knife.

I snagged one and am planning the same thing. I heard it is pretty slicey so I won't mess with the primary grind and will just reprofile to 30 degrees. I do want to put a straight spine on it. It shouldn't take too long to do that and it will have a very Manbug shaped blade albeit much, much larger. I am usually against processing game with folders but with the very simple construction and pronounced belly this should work well in that role and clean up easily.

AF.....yep, i felt the same way, but i kept it and later used it. i adapted to the size and shape...but would prefer a thicker handle, but so be it.

sharp_edge, thanks for clarifying. mine has stick and late lockup, but i prefer a knife this large to be that way. i'd prefer a different lock, as i am no fan of frame locks.....but it is what it is........

I was thinking more along the lines of reprofiling to eliminate the giant upsweep and make a smoother transition. That and straighten out the spine like you said. The tip would still be pretty high, but I've drawn it out and it can be made to look nice. Of course if I take that much off the edge side it will thicken the edge and definitely require a regrind too. We'll see. I probably have enough projects going as it is. :D

Great knife and very powerful cutter, I'm surprised it was not more popular.

As soon as I saw this thread I immediately ordered one from KC, and I just got the email saying that it has shipped. I have been interested in the K2 since it was released but never pulled the trigger because of the price. I'm really looking forward to getting this one but I'm a little concerned about the scales. I really like the idea of having someone modify them like Jason B's but I think it would be pretty pricy. I guess we'll see how it feels when it gets here.

That price is mighty tempting. I don't think I'd like it the second time 'round, though, either. The single most uncomfortable knife I've ever held. I'm not opposed to slab construction, but the K2's ergos were a huge let down for me. Returned it the next day.

Those sculpting mods on Jason's, though, seem like they'd solve the hotspots issue!

Handle work credit goes to Razor Edge Knives, Josh does very good work. Very reasonable price for the work too.

To anyone that has purchased one, I hope you have diamond stones... you're going to need it. I would also recommend the DMT Coarse followed by a wood substrate strop coated in diamond compound. I prefer 1 micron. Done well, it will display cutting power, edge retention and sharpness that is in a league of its own. You can also take the edge angle nice and low without worry of chipping, it seems to be a very tough steel.

Also got an email from KC saying it is shipped. Should be here on Wed or Thu the latest (I used usps priority). One just has to try it out to see whats good and what can be improved. For example, some said the handle is too blocky, whereas others said it is very similar to Military's handle (just a bit wider) and hence very comfy. Anyway, I will share my feeling of the k2 later.

Its the size, anything over 4" would not be practical for a lot of folks. If this was produced with a blade under 4 inches I would probably purchased one long ago. Even at this price there no point in me purchasing a knife that will never get carried.

hopefully the mini K2 is not too far off.
