hey Guys!

so, how do you carry your slippies? in a pocket slip/pouch, loose in a pocket or...how???

I find myself edc'ing them in some kind of pocket sheath or slip, have a few with a leather sheath i've made to keep sctratches and pants fluff away (even used an ipod sock LOL)
I don't really mind some light scratches, what bothers me is the pants fluff I find everywhere..., in my knife pocket there's just the wallet (nylon) but stiill find scratches and the fluff

any leather pocket slip ideas btw???

thanks
Maxx

I have a leather 1911 magazine holster that fits a GEC Sunfish perfectly.

I carry mine loose, but usually try to keep keys and change in another pocket.

Nowadays, I carry the single blade slipjoints in the this leather belt pouch that fellow forum member, rayban, made for me. Highly recommended. Sometimes, I do carry my knives in the jean coin pocket.

I carry my Alsdorf in a slipcase, but any other knife just gets thrown in the pocket. If the Alsdorf had a scratch on it when I got it, I wouldn't even worry about the slipcase.

I carry my knife in a Sack-Up pouch. This is not to protect the knife, it's to protect the cell phone that goes in the same pocket.

When at work, I carry loose in my shirt pocket next to my slim wallet.

When off duty, loose in the jeans pocket and nothing else in that pocket.

Hi,

I've always carried loose in my pocket. But I seldom carry my keys or coins and I don't have a cell phone.

Loose -- I just can't be bothered with a slip case or pocket sheath, and usually put other things in the same pocket (except change). Too many annoyances in my life as it is to want to add one more. I just make sure not to carry knives with delicate materials and/or finishes (I never buy any like that anymore - in the past, I've had to quickly sell off knives that I really liked but knew would never take straight pocket carry -- because basically, if I really like a knife, I will carry it).

I have always carried loose, but I am having a terrible time with rust. I put a sheath on my belt, but I really don't like that. Do you think a slip pouch in the pocket would adequately stave off rust?

Loose with my keys. I like the worn look. Scratches do not bother me at all. The only knife I have carried of any real value is my GEC Furtaker Trapper and I like it so it's not going anywhere unless some one really wants #17. The one thing I do like is pocket rub to shine things up a bit. It too some tarnish off a brass bolstered 8OT in two days. I would love to carry in some form of sheath but I can't handle the bulk. I already carry a load of stuff in my pockets so one more thing shouldn't make a difference but it does.

In the summer I wear Wrangler shorts with Velcro flaps, carry in the left one. If I wear Levis I carry in the coin pocket. In Dockers, left pocket solo.

Depending on the leather and how it's tanned, it can make it worse -- it can trap and hold moisture -- and some tanning methods will release chemicals that can make things worse (also stain/dye can come out of the leather and stain the scales). I'd recommend getting some Militec-1 and after cleaning your knife well to get all oil off of it and off the blades, oil your knife with the Militec and give the blades a light wipe down with it. Do this every time you oil your knife and your rust problems should be over (though you probably won't pick up any more patina). I sweat like a race horse and never bother about drying my pocket knives off and don't have any problems. However, as always, YMMV.

I carry either in my coin pocket or protected in a slip case/pouch (knife purse).

I don't care what anybody says about knife purse;) I don't drag my nice rifles to the deer stand behind a four wheeler, so I ain't packing a nice knife unprotected either.

Depends on the knife and size. Also if I'm working it hides in the pocket. I'm security and knives are a big no no! :grumpy: So it all depends but scratches add character. :D

Ron Ryder slip. It's more about protecting the face of my iPhone than protecting the knife. However, the leather does give good protection from car keys. I've got a few, but here's the only picture I could find...

I have shown this before. After buying a couple from Ron Ryder, I wanted some modifications. The leather braid is just thin hobby shop strapping. The thin wire looking one(s) I seem to wear the most, are made of four strands of 35lb spider wire bass line. Remember your scout camp braiding skills? The pouches I buy from Ron a half dozen at a time. The knife and pouch is positioned in the back of pocket so it hangs along the pant seam. It's almost invisible. You can either stick your hand in your pocket and 'pinch' the knife out or pull out sheath and take knife out. Have never had one hang on anything, even while working in the woods and around equipment. You can carry a decent sized knife and since it stays over to the side you never worry about embarassing 'knife bulge'. 300Bucks
