loose or protected, how do you carry?

I've been carrying a fixed blade as EDC for awhile now. It's usually paired with a slip joint. So another for a pouch :)

If I could legally carry FBs I could totaly see myself with a set up like that.

what about customs? pocket anyway?
can't manage to get the fallk TK3 out of the sheath in the pocket..

I thought I would show off my pocket sheath for my GEC Sunfish. The Sunfish is a VERY stout knife and is pretty heavy in the pocket. In most regular jeans or pants it is not very comfortable to carry as it ends up sitting in the pocket sideways on my leg.

I had an old leather 1911 magazine pouch that fits a GEC Sunfish perfectly. I started off simply wearing it on belt but didn't really care for it in that configuration so I cut the bottom part of the belt loop on the sheath and made this with a bit of paracord:

There is virtually no weight dragging on the bottom of the pocket so I now forget it is even there.

Another good thing is that the knife and pocket sheath stay pinned against the outside seem of the pocket which frees the rest of the pocket up for keys or whatever else.

I carry mine loose in my front right pocket and it gets joined by keys, phone, change and other pocketstuffs at various times - but I'm really liking the look of some of these pocket pouches.

I really didn't start using a pouch to protect the knife - it was more to keep it positioned a certain way in the pocket to keep it comfortable.

I don't go for sheathes or pouches but that's a really clever set-up dirtpig, looks alright too. NICE scales on that GEC!

I carry my slipjoints in my change pocket if I'm wearing jeans, otherwise I use a William Henry Clipcase, not so much for protection--though that's certainly a plus--but because I absolutely hate the awkward look and feel of a knife lying horizontally at the bottom of my pocket. The Clipcase keeps it vertical and within easy reach at the top of my pocket where it belongs.

And don't let a few grizzled old farts browbeat you with that "man-purse" cr@p, either. Recent paparazzi photos have revealed what most of us already knew anecdotally: Tony routinely wears a faux leopard skin thong when he thinks no one is watching, but we're on to the Old Dog now.
