Lost a knife to day

Wow. That is disgusting. You have my sympathy; they should have given you the opportunity to have it sent back.

Wow, that's just awful. I can't imagine how I would feel if that happened to me. I'm very sorry, but don't let this stop you from enjoying a Sebneza.

Good Evening All-

Wow, bad news. I hate being a "conspiracy theorist" about things, but I have a very hard time believing a Customs agent is going to willingly toss that Sebenza in the grinder or the melting pile.

Somewhere in Denmark, a P.O.S. Pakistani lockback has an appointment with a smelter under the auspices of being a one-handed Sebbie.

Hey, Blue Jays,
maybe said Customs AHole probably doesn't know squat about quality folders, probably because he looks at Asian crap knives all day. There is a chance it will be destroyed.

Hi all

Thanks for the sympathy. I will in time get over it and NO it will not stop me from buying knives. For a time I will look at European knifemarket but I am sure I will return to the American market that offers so many very nice knives.

Some of you guys have asked questions.

How did they know it was a knife? As I understand form the customs letter Copenhagen Airport scans all packages coming by plane – it wasn’t written on the pack that it was a knife or a blade, I think the words was office tools.

No they didn’t offer me to return the package to sender.

Yes I do think it will be destroyed. Most people I know and I think it goes for at lot of Danes isn’t that interested (or understand) in knives. Denmark has for years been very strict about weapons (if you think they are tough with regard to knives I can tell you that guns are impossible). Danes doesn’t naturally handle knives and guns so I don’t think that most will be able to differ between an ordinary quality knife and a top quality knife. For many people a knife is just a knife. Just to give an example the Government is these days trying to pass a new act forbidding everybody to carry (I don’t know about owning) a knife at all – that will naturally simplify things a lot.

Thanks again friends.

Regards Carl

I've said it before here but it's worth repeating. Whenever I see customs officials on the TV news slicing open the plastic wrapping on the latest squillion dollar intercepted cocaine shipment - I never fail to notice that it is with a nice, high end, top dollar knife.

My condolences Carl.

ps: Maybe you can contact the customs official back and say that you wish to see the knife destroyed in your presence or you will be reporting them to the Police for theft. Copy everybody in that you can think of on the letter (local politicians etc). May not get you the knife back but you can at least make them squirm a little. I'm sure Gollnick can advise you on some other official ways that you can make them wish they had never seen your Sebbie.

carl, my advice is to move to a country that allows to one hand openers. Such laws are ridiculous.

Yup the Customs d|cksmack has gotten himself a new knife...

If it's not too late, contact them and ask what the heck is wrong...
Explain that you're a collector and that it's an expensive knife you won't willingly give up.

(last time this happened to me here in Norway, the knife in question was a Protech Godfather. The police and customs didn't bother sending me a letter until three months after they had seized it/destroyed it... bastards! that was three months of anxiously waiting for something that I THOUGHT was on it's way to me...)

my deepest sympathies!

Maximus,
I think they are rather the descendants of immigrants from who knows where that bred with sheep....!
The danish knifelaws are about to get even worse - no carrying of any kind of knife in "public places" (unless hunting, fishing, etc.).
Yep, from next year (if the law passes and it seems to), it will be illegal to carry such deadly weapons as a SAK or a LM Micra!

Hi Carl...
deeply sorry...I live in the same shity country... Did they charged you for unlegal weapon import too? Don't joke guys it hapen here!
Guys imagine than her in denmark if you want to "own" a knife with a blade bigger than 5" , you have to request a "weapon permit" to the police! Recently a friend of mine ordered a Ka-bar with pla to use it in his duty for the "danish national guards". the customs took it and asked if he had a "weapon permit".The guys said NO, he was charged by the police for that and had to pay 250$... that is Denmark...
The politicians just decided than "SOFT AIR GUNS" will be prohibited next year, because they can be considered as weapons... you guys got the picture?

Hi oliverplomion

No, I wasn't actually charged for unlegal weapon import, but if I didn't sign a form accepting the destruction of the knife they threatened to do so.

Regards
Carl

Not right. . .not right at all ! :barf:

I don't think that I could live in Denmark. I would be in a constant state of knife withdrawal !

Feel your pain carl ! :(

Second what Olivier said! They tried to do that with me too!
If it can be any help at all at this point, talk to police assistant Tommy Nielsen at the weapons office in Copenhagen (33 14 14 48)
He was the only one of the six police officers I spoke to when trying to get my Busse's who was professional, nice and actually knew the law!
I told him I would NOT sign that document and that my knives were perfectly legal (as is the Sebanza if the thumbstud is removed).
As the only one, he agreed and told me I was in my full right to get my knives.

And yes.....it sucks living in this country and being into knives and guns!
But for some, leaving is not an option.....:(
