Love my Vic Farmer!

I'm worried the 'good deals' on red and blue ones are over with now. I got one of each when they were, but I EDC the blue one and am thinking I ought to retire it early...

But anyway, I'll 'share the love' too if something good comes along.

I know of a source, but he is currently moving. I will score some when he is settled in if nothing else pops up.

i am always amazed that somebody would go anywhere without a sak. they are amazingly useful. with a sak and tasman salt in my pockets i feel ready for any cutting task i might run into in my urban environment.

Well rksoon, I honestly love em both. On that note the Farmer is easier to carry in my pocket and the blade seems to be thicker. I love the Alox scales on it but I do miss the tweezers and toothpick. Oh and I like the leather punch being were it is. I honestly cant say that I love the Farmer more because I do love my Rucksack but as said previously Farmer is smaller for pocket carry. So that is the plus to me. I bought a Huntsman at Christmas and I love it but the thickness issue is why its not my first choice. Hell I love em all. Ill rotate my Vics but the Farmer will be an EDC. Im just a knife crazed nut and I want ever Vic knife known to man. The farmer stands out to me, maybe its because of the scales or saw but it just stands out to me and it seems solid as a rock. Theres just something about it. Get one man, there cheap and solid. My Rucksack has now been put in my Bug out Bag.

Excellent, thanks  I do like that it's better for pocket carry. I've been looking for a Vic to EDC that was somewhere between the Classic on my keychain and the Rucksack in my daypack, so this seems to be exactly what I need. I actually ordered one on the morning of the same day I saw this thread; it looks like it was meant to be :D Thanks for the info, wildone39. I can't wait til I get mine!

edited to add: looks like down the line i'll have to keep an eye out for the colored versions as well..... :D

Closest I can do is a "I don't own a Farmer" thread:o

You mean "don't own a Farmer yet" thread. ;)

I don't own one yet either but I EDC a Wenger SI (like a Farmer minus the saw).
The Farmer is on my shourt list. Last year they kept showing up on Amazon and the like with bue or red Alox. I keep waiting for them to come back around so I can grab one. Unfortunately, I don't think its going to happen.

I got myself one for Christmas. I can finally undestand why there's such a cult following this knife. It's insane how useful it is. Add on top of that that it's easily pocketable and uncannily light. I put a short lanyard on it, but I've been thinking about taking it off so I can EDC it better.

I have no idea how they can bang out such quality for so cheap in Switzerland, one of the most expensive countries out there.

I don't own a Farmer yet either. I did pick up 2 vic Cadets at Target and gave them to my wife and daughter for Christmas. Nice little knife that has the alox handles, so I went back last night and got one for me. Gonna place it into my AMK PSP. When I get a Farmer, it'll get pocket duty.

Haha, I have a rucksack and love it, but I saw the Farmers selling for cheap on amazon and had to get it simply because of W&SS. :D

Tell me about it... bought 3 of them at the same time just to get a better deal on the international shipping. Then a friend of mine from a Spanish cutlery forum gifted me another one... So yes, I own 2 NIB Farmers, a slightly used (never sharpened, carried twice) one and another one a bit more used.

Is it a lovely SAK? Yes sir. Is it going to replace my Rucksak when going hiking? Well, in winter probably not because of the metal scales. If I am going for a day hike, probably yes.

I held off on getting one for a long time because I didn't think I'd like the scales. Now I love them.

I don't own any Farmers,but I have two Soldiers ;)
I have to get a Farmer, but all my cash right now will go for a M95 Sissi Pukko :D

I share eveyone else's feelings for the Vic Farmer. Top quality, tough and easy to carry. What more can a guy ask? OH! and affordable for joe average.:D

The Farmer is a great every day knife but for practical use, I like the Trekker even better. It's larger, one hand open locking blade, bigger saw blade. Doesn't have the Farmer's elegance though. I keep my Farmer in my little belt pouch PSK. The Trekker sits in the next largest fanny pack. (And the two larger packs have Leatherman Waves).

Im my mind, to be a Wilderness out door lover, you must have a saw on any SAK you carry. Thats just my feelings, but any SAK will do. I love them. The Farmer just speaks to me to carry it every day, even if I have another one on me.

I have my Farmer in my pocket right now---just used it for a host of things at a Scout campout. It's more than a great knife for the money---it'd be a great knife even at a higher price point.

I'm glad it's priced for the average Joe though.

I ordered 6 when Amazon had them for like 2 for $36 and free shipping, I some times give them to people who appreciate a good tool.

You mean you just got a Farmer now??? I thought you needed to own a Farmer before you were allowed to post in W&S. :)

Not everyone who comes in here has sipped the Vic Farmer Kool-aid. :D

I had 4. Gave one to someone cause his cheap folder was taken by airport security when he went on a trip to Vegas. (and I do mean cheap folder. Little bitty thing he had been carrying for years. I was surprised it could cut clear plastic tape on a box.)

Down to 3, 1 silver for edc, a red in by BOB, and a spare at home sitting next to my Vic Camper.

I just last night cleaned up my red alox that I edcd for a few years. Retired it to the Romeo y Julieta box with the other sentemental items. I am now packing on of my fresh silver aloxs.

Around March I will have an Orange alox, and the type3 annod one w/ clip.

Love the farmer. My favorite folder. Its the Sebenza of the outdoors.
