I prefer low ride clips for most knives, but sometimes they make it a pain to get out the knife. I don't like it when too much knife is sticking up either, so it has to be that perfect in between!I find knives that I like, the clip is an easy to solve problem so it won't keep me from getting a certain one.

I prefer some knife sticking up to make it easier to pull out. I put the end of my fingertip on the outside of the handle, preferably on the grip screws, put my thum inside the pocket, and pull it out. If it is a tip-down knife then it falls into my palm and my thumb is right where it needs to be to open the blade.

Today I am carrying my Benchmade 890 Torrent with its sleek lowride clip. It is a little harder to pull out but I manage. I think my only other lowride clip is my ZT 0561.

If I use anything other than a low ride clip, it will rub on my Blackhawk Mid Ride Serpa 3 Holster. That is only for strong side carry. For weak side carry, I prefer a little more of the knife sticking out as it makes it easier to grab with my weak hand.

I wear my holster just a tad further back so a knife on my strong side will not rub on it. Also most of the time I wear a Crossbreed holster, which is IWB. So no knife is going to hit a IWB holster.

I prefer a deep carry clip.

I don't like having a knife sticking up out of my pocket.

A clip could be any number of things, but a knife showing sticking up out of your pocket tells all.

I have never had much trouble getting my knife out of my pocket when it is clipped using any of my low-riding clips.

The poll is showing about 25% overall prefer a high-rider or not having a high-rider is a deal breaker , while almost 50% prefer the low rider.

Who cares that 50% like em. The day that knives are available with only low rider clips is the day I stop buying knives.

On duty carry is the only time that low ride carry is an issue. I don't really think about the placement of the clip when I am off duty as I vary what I carry based on how I feel. My pistol is in an IWB holster when I am off duty and the knife doesn't even come close to where my pistol and holster are. It is just annoying as hell when I don't put a low ride clip in my pocket cause every friggin step I take I hear this clink, clink, clink. No way to be tactically silent when you hear that clink, clink, clink. :)

Kind of like a modern day Clint Eastwood, in all them spaghetti westerns, with his spurs clanking on every step. Me likey! ;-)

:p LOL... I never thought of it that way. Too bad I am not as cool as Clint. It was never an issue until my Agency switched from leather to nylon with the Kydex holster.

In my experience it takes longer and more concentration to remove a knife with a low ride clip. No go.

It doesn't matter what type of clip is on my knife, as long as I can remove the knife without any hassle.

No vote. If a knife has a clip, it ought to match the rest of the knife's design and have decent retention (not too tight, not too loose.) I don't want any clips on my traditionals though. So I guess it depends on the knife...

I decided to cheat on the whole clip/lanyard thing.

Generally deep carry vs. higher carry isn't too big of an issue for me; I'm more concerned about clip retention and style. I find Benchmade and Spyderco's standard clips work perfectly fine for me: deep enough where the knife won't fall out and still high enough for easy access and able to "flash" a little of what I'm carrying to let other EDCers know I've got the goods ;)

And I guess that over 70 percent of the respondents don't care for what you like.

Variety is the spice - If I have one that sticks out, I prefer the knife to be a subdued color at least.

Enjoy!

I never liked clips...

I would have removed sebenza clip but then there is gaping hole, and like I need to shell out even more for replacement cover...

I think higher end knives should have option to ADD clip

I haven't bought several knives because of how much knife is out of the pocket. I absolutely despise the black spyderco clips. I definitely prefer deep carry and have never had an issue getting it out of my pocket. Thumb goes into the pocket and I pinch it out by the top of the clip, same thing I would do with a high carry. I have had knives in the past poke me and be very uncomfortable when sitting down due to so much sticking out of the pocket. I don't care if people know I have a knife on me, but I don't want an inch out of my pocket just advertising I have one on me.

Personally I just like how they carry and how they look. I also think deep carry is much better while wearing shorts. I didn't like carrying the southard until I changed out that ridiculous clip that carries high and at a weird angle.

I won't buy a knife with a low riding clip. I dislike drawing them from my pocket.

Its a deal breaker for me if a knife has one.

I am one that wont carry a knife unless it has a low rider clip. It makes it less noticeable and won t attract people's curiosity.
