All I know is whatever factory is putting these out is also manufacturing similar designs for Boker and Gerber and S&W. If you're not looking for a more modern or exotic steel, some of these models are easily equal to the stuff coming out of Japan not so long ago. Quite impressive.
IIRC, M-Tech was the company that stole all of the designs brought to production by the original owner of this site, Mike Turber. Mike attempted to create knives at factories made in china, held to high quality standards and using designs that he commissioned and purchased from US knifemakers. The idea was to deliver really cool knives, affordable to non-knife-nuts who weren't concerned with having the latest steel.
However the factory that he used made his knives for him during the day, then ran at night making the same knives to be sold at reduced prices by M-Tech. Mike couldn't compete with his own product when sold at prices lower than he could afford (due to M-Tech not paying for design fees, costs of tooling, etc). Nor could he afford to take M-Tech to court, especially given the "limited" recognition that china gives to intellectual property. So they sucked him dry for their own profit and cast off his carcass.
In sum, (1) yes they are a good value and (2) they are pure poison.
scumbag knock off artists selling chinese junk.
Yo! Harsh criticism from some (remember all companies enable the bourgeoisie to exploit the proletariat)...M-Tech is just a low end knife that's all...going camping/hunting...need a quick, cheap knife...MTech is fine for the weekend but that's about it...Late!
Oh...and I'm no commie by the way...just hate corporations
Ha! Fool!...you have bought into their lies and trickery...for those that believe in any mutual benefit between those with and those without are naive and ignorant...go now, work and break yourself for the elite and accomplish nothing, peasant...for I am a warrior, living in age of weaklings who all settle for their dreadful and menial of lives...my destiny does not lie with them but in the halls of the Valkyrie! Fight on!

Some of the M-Tech knives are okay, and some are not. The problem is that you never know if you are going to get a good one. The one M-Tech that I own, I was able to check out before making my purchase. The first one I checked out had some blade play and a few marks that I didn't care for. The second one was good. They were the same model. Even though they are inexpensive, I don't think I would purchase one without having the opportunity to look it over first.
