Here's a touch more.
Before it started drizzling, I had time to split a juniper log and fashion a couple of planks that might be suitable for a fire board.
More to come later in the appropriate thread.

You sir are evil to tease the rest of us poor slobs.
I hope that is in the 2011 catalog.

Stunning collection of knives, photos, and information,

I am humbled.

Nice job on blowing up those pictures!

The Machax is my favourite knife of all time. It chops well, isn't very heavy, works excellently as a draw knife, and because of its relatively light weight, it can easily be used for finer work.

Here's an old picture of the Machax on a baldric with a Mora.

Who's that handsome devil in the beard? Looks like Sean Connery in Canada. Could it be?

I'm speechless.....
I cant tell I just joined another forum that will be costing me alot of cash

Doc, I didn't blow those up. Just found 'em that way in some old W&SS threads.
Maybe I found the versions before you resized. Anyway, when I think of the Machax, I always think of you and Bladite.

Ummm this thread is supposed to end with "and now.. announcing the KABAR version of the Machax, coming in February 2011" right?

There they are. One handled and one not. I'm sure I will own one.. As I look at some of the Pics, are some of those Hollow ground? Please don't do that. My Cutlass machete chipped bad from the thin hollow grind. Please make it flat...

I don't think you will ever have to worry about hollow grinds on Becker knives. The only one I can think of that hollow is the BK13 Remora. Sabre grinds are the grind of choice, I do believe.

Boy, this sure would be a nice way to start the year, wouldn't it??? (if it ever happens, I hope they keep the 1/4 inch thick blade...to be honest, I wish the BK9 was 1/4 inch...probably not a necessity, but just personal preference).

Now a question. I noticed that the originals had fairly low hardness on the blades, which no doubt aided in their toughness. Does anyone think a lower hardness would be used again (say around 54-56)? It does seem like it may be prudent.

54-55rc is low, real low, like throwing knife low. I would like to see it around 57-58rc, holds edge and tough as hell. GTG, IMO. Thanks
