Made in Idaho:)

I just posted about that telling folks to watch the exchange forum ;) It is indeed funny as hell.

Not really that just kinda sucks. Good thing I can't afford it. Perhaps the upper crust enjoys an association with Idaho.

Paul

Well, we all know that Idaho is where all the rich folks go to retire and die. ;)

Geez, You would think that all these guys that don't like Idaho must have an ex wife there or something. :)

I think they're just prejudiced because the best two knife makers in the world own 75 percent of the state: Chris Reeve and Shon Rowen :D

I guess the humorous part is that 2/3 of the people in that thread spend most of their time in ESEE forum. :D

Don't like it, don't buy it. Maybe he's proud of making his stuff in the US. Or maybe he's most proud of Idaho Made because Idaho has a lot of common sense compared to other parts of the country.

Seems like more of a problem for people who like looking at knives than using them. Which is fine, to each their own.

"I have never figured out how changing the appearance of a knife with different engravings or logos or names changes the knife for what it was intended to be and do. It doesn't."

Spot on Mike.

With a billion options for knives on the market, it seems to me if people were looking for a knife that looks good in a glass case, then they would just take their money some where else. It is funny to me because I don't think I have ever looked at knife and said nope I wouldn't get that because of the logo or engraving.

Much respect for you guys jumping in and defending CRK, not something you see everyday.

Good heavens! That takes butthurt to a level never before seen by mankind!

On that note... Maybe I can get a Sebenza for a good price now and look all kinds of cool and sophisticated!

My point is this: If you spend that much money on a knife there is a "pride of ownership" that goes along with it. I think that the stamp is kinda goofy thus it damages the "pride of ownership". I can spend $20.00 on a knife and cut the same things as that CRK. Would it be as cool? No. Would it be as well made? No. Would it cut stuff and last 30 years? Yes.

WOULD IT HAVE "MADE IN IDAHO ON IT"? HELL NO.

Just my thoughts, feel free to disagree.

Paul

To me, IDAHO MADE is part of the pride in ownership. I don't live in the state but there are tons of knives that say USA Made. But to narrow it down to a State makes it even more special in my eyes. If we had the ESEE factory here on the farm we would probably narrow that down even more and have MADE ON RANDALL ROAD - USA on the knife.

I don't see what the problem is, good looking knife to me course, I actually use knives, so I may not understand the problem. I did not read the whole thread so may be missing something other than the IM.

Paul, You know the guy is gonna sell a LOT more knives becasue of this right?:) This whole thing makes me wonder....if we started putting "Rowen" AND "Made in Idaho" on our knives would folks stop buying our knives? We have put skulls, crossed knives, several different logos and lots of things on our blades becasue these things meant something to US as owners and makers and so that translates to the customer as "This is what these guys are proud of and what they are about." That only adds to the aesthetics of the knife overall (that and it's quality) and seems to bear out in our market and sales. But we absolutley are free market capitalists and I support everyone's right to 'vote with their checkbook' . :)

Geezus you guys. People can't have an opinion and you gotta make your own thread in your own forum to call out the butthurtedness? What should we file this under :D

Hey, it's fun to poke fun at other's opinions. We do it all the time here and whereever opinions run rampant. Besides, this thread has even brought out the idea of Free Market Capitalism that some obviously don't understand ;)

Who knows, maybe RYP sold twice as many knives by offering a sterile version.

On another note... Is there a picture anywhere of the *whole* Sebenza with the Idaho Made stamp? The only picture I've seen so far is the one where the picture barely contains anything other than the stamp... I would like to see how the stamp looks on the whole knife.

It's so much what it says,it's mostly the placement & the big bold lettering. It cheapens the looks of it IMO.Of course I'll still buy them.:)

You know the "branding" is working when people vote with their checkbook.
