**MAIL CALL**- traditionals

You all are not making me feel very good. LOL. It seems I've been sending them out and not getting many sent to me. I've been shopping for a few GEC 78s but no joy on the bid sites. Back in Dec I did get a Big Bowie Knife. It's pretty BA. I won it from the Traditional Treasure Hunt thread. Misplaced Hillbilly provided the prize! This is his picture.

Interesting choices Henry :) I got a Mini-Skrama in the mail last week, got it in my pocket right now (in the stock sheath)

Now this fella here looks promising. It almost reminds me of a Mora.

Gt, Post them in both! But this thread only if it came in the mail!:D:D (see, there is a difference:D)

The "New Additions" thread is open to any new additions, John. For instance: any knife you bought at a brick & mortar store would go only in the New Additions thread. This thread they have to come in the mail.:D
...
Pretty obvious difference, once someone points it out to my Kentucky Fried Brain!:( (For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to spell "etiquette" earlier today; another sign of creeping decrepitude.:thumbsdown:)
Thanks for helping me, Mark.

Let's just pretend this came in the mail and didn't actually follow me home from Walmart ;)

I don't get to fish as often as I'd like to and rarely catch anything to keep when I do so this will get carried as I would any knife.
The package says to only cut fish with it, but I'm not going to let anyone tell me what I can cut with my knife :D:D
HnS, that's a cool knife, for a fixed blade. I've seen Rapala fillet knives in lots of places, and I've almost ordered a Marttini knife, but I never realized there are connections between the two.:cool:

The plastic handled ones may be made in China, but the Finlanders have been made By Marttini for a very long time.
This thing is extremely sharp and I'd say a must for $12 , I think the longer one is about $14.

Thanks for the extra info.:cool:
Maybe I'll have to make a knife like that my version of a puukko.

Sounds like a good idea.
I like how this fillet is about the size of a a pukko but has a thin blade without a scandi grind, I just don't like scandi grinds.
It's thin but not too thin.

Nice fixed blade, Jack. The handle looks very comfortable.

That should be very comfortable in hand. I have the Skrama and Jakaaripuukko, and know what to expect from the handle. I wanted something slimmer for pocket carry, though. The inner tube on the tang should be adequate for the limited use it wlll see as an EDC.

How about a pic of the sheath?

Thanks guys, I'm liking it, very comfortable in hand :) I have the Jakaaripuukko too Henry :) I only came across these knives by chance while looking for clothing, I actually spotted the sheath first. I'm thinking of getting a Skrama too

Here's the Jakaaripuukko, the sheath on the Mini-Skrama is of the same quality, but it doesn't have the hanger, fits right on the belt. It's comfortable there, but also works well for pocket carry

Great to see that Bowie again Randy :)

Got this mint Cattaraugus Radio Electricians knife today, still in storage grease.

Excellent find, Augie! I didn't realize Klein had been around so long.

Yeah, I got quite a mail call today, the Traditional Box GAW #2. (Not all for me of course.)

Now that is a proper mail call, Dave! A whole box full.:D Excited to see what you choose.

Looks like it should be good for other cutting chores, as well.

Not a bad looking sheath either, Jack.

Does being in the mail count? This ones on its way to me as I type.

Looks unique with only the one bolster, C Corso . Now you can show it again when it arrives!;)

I really like Case's 6.5 bone stag and those are two fine examples. I really really like that saddle horn. Congrats!

The saddlehorn trapper is definitely interesting. It's from 2004, so the fit and finish isn't quite up to what Case is producing now. It's still good, but not exceptional like Case has been putting out the last couple years. A bit too much rounding from excessive polishing of the blades, IMO. But the bone stag on it is incredible. Thick and gnarly. Beautifully shaped covers that are very well matched. The shape of the frame, coupled with the thick covers, really locks into your hand. Overall, it's a total stunner to look at, and good for using too. The weight is relatively light considering how thick the covers are, and the smaller size makes it far more pocketable than I would have imagined. I'm really happy with it.

I was wondering the same thing when I first opened the thread, but that logic is foolproof. ;) :D

Sadly, it’s been quite a while since any new knives have graced my mailbox. :(

Congrats on your two Dead Skunk #14’s, Mark!

Yesterday, the postman delivered these 91mm SAK replacement scales. Putting them on a Tinker was just about like getting a new knife... except for the lower cost. :)

Very nice, James! They look to be grippy. What's the texture like?.
The Tinker is my favorite SAK as I use that Phillips driver a lot. I've always wished for an Alox Tinker, not sure why they don't make one.

On the SAK theme, just got this Explorer.

That means you're due! They seem to come in waves for me. I'll have them coming in for awhile and then I'll go for a long dry spell.
Thanks, it took awhile but I found a spare.:)

Thanks Mark,
was a bit fortuitous to land the 97. It is pretty dark with some nice chocolate streaks, just haven't been able to get it out into the sun and try and capture them.

The mini trapper is a great size, really can't be beat at the price point, plus I'm just a sucker for a knife with a cap lifter.

This old LL BEAN Carver just arrived in the mail, no clue who manufactured it but I couldn't pass it up for the price.
Whoever originally owned it knew their way around a stone.
It was sharpened a lot but sharpened well with no scarring across the blade like you normally see.
Here it is as I got it

And after I took the recurve out of the blade.
