  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Mailman brought me a haul of new Condors - a few minor QC issues.

Being full tang, I have to say I prefer them to Mora.

Keep in mind, though, that the Rodan is a hidden tang. I have no idea how big it is under that handle, but the handle is large enough to contain a large one.

However, as you will see later, one thing that is missing that should probably be there, is a coating of oil.

Yes, my El Salvador Carbon Machete also wasn't coated and had a bit of rust on the edge. I, too, wish do they'd oil the blades, but the cost really is awesome.

Good to see how fast they took care of you, ejes .

Now...I wonder if it's time for me to pick up a golok....:D

basically a giant rectangle underneath the poly pro handle.

FWIW, I just got the Condor Kukri in the mail yesterday. No issues whatsoever with fit or finish. No rust, even grinds, nice coating. The edge could have been sharper, but wasn't bad by any stretch. Condor is GTG from my standpoint. And I also will be picking up a Rodan in the near future.

I still have a Rodan coming.
I'm not too concerned about rust on the uncoated edge but underneath the black coating is a concern.
It also looks like(in the pics shown) there is rust where the tang enters the handle.
I'm hoping that there are no rust issues on the tang itself. Over time this could cause a problem. I'm not rushing to a conclusion just concerned.

Based on the customer service that has already been shown this is all less of a worry regardless.

I doubt that could really happen since the polypropylene handle is injection molded directly to the tang. Still, corrosion under the coating is a problem for sure.

Joe: Any reason these aren't done in the UltraBlac2 finish? I can't manage to scratch it off of my Condors, so why was the choice made to go with a powder coat?:)

What are your impressions of the Nessmuk? It calls to me......... :D

It and the Bushlore are the ones I'm enjoying the most right now, though I wish the Nessie's blade went all the way back to the handle. Joezilla says the new production ones are supposed to, so I got one of the original stock I guess. Easy enough to fix when I get the itch to do it. It definitely won't replace my David Farmer Nessmuk, but it was 1/3 the cost. I think if anyone wants to try a Nessie and not spend a lot of money, this is the one to get.

I'll be interested to see how 420HC holds up under hard usage for a machete. It wouldn't be my first steel choice for that application, so I'm interested to see any reviews and long term results.

I ordered the Rodan and the Golak and can't wait to make a cool sheath for the Golak.

I am ordering the Rodan to give it a try. I will probably try the Nessie as well, although I have a good stock of Nessie's.

I have been looking at the Kukri, anyone know how thick it is?

Looks to be around 1/8", but I haven't formally measured it yet. Could be around 3/32" I guess. I'll be posting a full review, with pics, on Monday. Gotta do a little work on the handles, slim em down some, and see if I like that better.

Won't find it in those knives, they are all 1075

Ultra blac2 won't stick to the metal well, they are going with what will.

The thickness of the kukri machete for now, is about 3-4mm
