Well, I am 36, married, 2 children, I like all water sports, and all mountain sports, I practice regularly, and the last thing I need is a knifenut friend, even worse, a best friend who is a knifenut :-)

Might turn hermit one of these days! :-)

Okay, my bithdate is 9/5/57.
I have a loving wife, almost 17 year young daughter and twin boys that just turned 11 this month.

I have lived in oHIo my entire life! I love family vacations to WDW in Florida and going to Toronto as well. Besides working 2 jobs 7 days a week, I love the outdoors and going to Cleveland Indians Games. My entire family are big MLB fans and Disney Knuts! I'm the only knife knut so far in the family, but my twin boys are starting to get there!

I'm a 20 year old from Eugene Oregon who currently works for "The Man" aka McDonalds (big corporations are BAD!) Saving money to go to college and study computer programming. I'm definitely a balisong freak, but a slight problem with memory, so I tend to lose things, (such as a BM35 and a BM44s)

Otherwise, just a general computer nerd with nothing better to do than collect shiny sharp objects.

Great idea Mike!

Hello,
My name is actually Neil Blackwood. I'm 41, married, 3 kids, and nursing a broken foot from playing with motorcycles!! I've met many friends here on the Forum and had the privilege of having many visit my shop (garage) here in Lakeland, Florida.
I used to be very much into tournament bass fishing, hunting and archery. Now it's all been taken over by knifemaking! I still get out on the water once in a while but only for fun. I don't miss the tournament stress at all!!
I look forward to meeting all the Forum members I've not yet met, in person at the Blade Show!!

OK. Obligatory age admission: 46. Married with one son who is also married. Now awaiting grand children. I'm an instructor for the Defense Logistics Agency. Interests include: the obvious, Star Trek, Alternate Historical fiction, Science Fiction in general (hence the handle), Bible study, grabbing a topic at random and studying it, etc.

This forum is great. The amount of information I've gotten here in the last 2 months is fantastic. Thanks to all.

Vampire Gerbil: You have a unique mind. I visited your site. I am now officially scared. Please stay in Nevada. ;-)

Good idea...

I'm 36, recently married & live in Huntsville, AL. I'm an engineer in the space program and have recently become another knife knutt. I have delusions of making my own lockback pocket knife someday... but for now it's just a cardboard mock-up.
My wife and I enjoy camping, hiking, and traveling, among many other things.

Well, here goes.
I'm 23 years old, soon to be 24 (man, I feel old! ), I just got married earlier this month to my gorgeous fiancee.
I am from Denmark originally, where I worked as Hotline supporter and computer tech in a computer retail store. I have been collecting knives since I was a kid and have even dabbled in knifemaking and managed to produce a couple of decent specimens.
My interests are: reading scifi, movies, computer graphics, theoretical astrophysics ( I love to speculate!), knives, sticks, guns ( The bigger, the better), martial arts, hiking, my wife, technology and soforth.
Currently, I live in Middletown, Ohio where I impatiently wait for my green card to arrive so I can start working.
I hope to meet a bunch of you guys at the blade show.

Right.
I'm 23, have been collecting for about ten years now, and have a thoroughly unrepentant love for all things sharp and shiny. I spend a lot of time polishing the edges of my knives and formulating paranoid conspiracy theories a la Philip K. Dick.

Other things I like:

Computers: I work with them for a living, so I guess I have to like the damned things...

Books: If it doesn't have Fabio on the cover, I'll probably read it.

Music: I listen to just about damned near anything. I love live shows -- recent ones include Jonathan Richman, They Might Be Giants, The Murder City Devils, and Weird Al Yankovic.

Miscellaneous Debris: Old britcoms (Monty Python, Blackadder, the Young Ones, etc.), Kubrick films, Contact juggling, Jeunet & Caro, fencing, my guitar, Terry Gilliam, Matt Groening, Bill Hicks, guns, England (knife laws aside), robots, motorcycles, Kurosawa, tattoos, good beer.

I'm 36, from Suburban Chicagoland. By trade a computer network consultant (Master CNE and MCSE, but I work more in routers these days...).

Other than knives, I spend my time and money on my wife of 8 years, tropical fish (salt & fresh), my two dogs, and tae kwon do.

Then it belongs in the community forum. What, are you moderators/owners too good to follow your own rules?

I can see that I'm not going to make any friends in this thread!

I'm 25 from Perkasie, PA, which is about an hour north of Philadelphia. When I was a young teen I ordered a lot of junky knives from Smokey Mountain Knife works, and some other places. In more recent years I try to only buy good quality production knives. I also like photography, bicycling, and just about anything else you can do outdoors. Someday I might try making knives. Anyone know a good book to get you started?

I'm 36 years old, thrice divorced, and live in a van down by the river!
smile.gif

Okay, okay, so I don't live in the van anymore, and I'm not divorced (not yet anyway; I'm waiting for Catherine Zeta-Jones to leave Michael Douglas-what a loser!) I am 36 though, and I do have three lovely, well behaved children. (HA!!) One boy, 13, and two girls, 10 and 7, with ONE more on the way, due in July! My goal in life is to pay an extremely obscene amount of cash just to treat my family to the movies, i.e., it cost me $50 to go see 'Dinosaur', which, BTW, made me cry. Heck, all those Disney movies make me cry. My other goal in life is to write the Great American Novel, you know, a story about a man, a woman, and a bottle of Wesson oil. After that, I want to retire and live in Rio de Janiero. Or Detroit.

Oh yeah, does anybody here know how those darn Downey fabric softener balls work? Those things freak me out man!!

G2 here! got that moniker from our VP where I work, Gary Graly, GG, G2. Easy to remember!

Born in West Virginia, (I can hear some of you saying, now it all makes sense
biggrin.gif
) Back in the year 1954 so that makes me.......46 this past January. My grandmother told me that I used to sit on the curb and rub an old pocket knife against it to sharpen the knife before I was in first grade, so I've had this steel virus a long long time.

My father is a lifer in the Army, Master Sargent, I spent four wonderful years in the US Navy aboard a Submarine Rescue Ship called the USS Ortolan ASR-22, it was a twin hulled catemaran ship that rode like a ping pong ball on top of a fountain! Terrible! I was a Sonar Tech aboard that ship, Second Class Petty officer. While there I made quite a few knives out of paint scrapers, no one liked scraping paint anyway!

Like throwing knives, cracking my 14 plus foot Bullwhip, collecting knives of course and my three daughters and wife are in there somewhere! No sons to carry on the knife habit.....but I wouldn't give any of them up.

I used to have a monkey named Bob living in my head telling me what to do, but he left and caught a plane to Australia, not sure who he is with now?

Oh, live in upstate PA near Elmira NY, out in the boonies though, nice and quiet, like it here.

Thanks guys!
G2
