Mall Ninjas...

CHEAP means affordable crap. INEXPENSIVE means affordable quality. Big difference! ;)

I get my ninja gear from ben at Baryonyx Knife Co. :D

Actually there is some great inexpensive stuff from mora, condor etc. I am collecting some more expensive blades but I love my moras and my condor rodan.

Great link to the story of the mall ninjas. ROTFL

Reading this reminded me of an experience today. I went to the local gunshow/knifeshow here in Memphis. Was looking for another knife to add to the collection and knew prospects were slim of finding a Randall, Lile, Loveless or Busse Combat. Nevertheless, I can sometimes find one at a good price. My wife went with me. Within 5 minutes of entering the door, she made the comment that this seemed like a testosterone contest. While most were normal gun/knife enthusiasts, there were more than usual of the Apocalypse ready types there today. Always camo with a tactical style backpack with full complement of Surefires, knives, maybe an ax, and sometimes carrying an assault rifle. Then there were the others who wore the nylon jackets with patches every two inches all proclaiming some tactical training, combat training, etc. Even had a few vendors selling the patches and they seemed quite busy. Did notice one thing as usual though. They guys selling the mall Ninja wares were very busy as usual and selling many items, while the dealers selling the higher end items were complaining about how slow business was. So, I guess the mall Ninjas are really good for the lower end dealers. Noticed one dad with two early teens that was purchasing two Ninja style swords about 4 foot long and noticed the price at 14.99 each....I'm sure that was some high end steel..Just an interesting observation about the Mall Ninja marketplace.

I couldnt finish reading, too much. But that was glorious..

summary towards then end. Someone makes a joke about putting hellfire missles on their golf cart and he says they wouldnt use anything more powerful than their standard issue ones.............. from there it goes disturbingly psychotic

I guess I will keep my proffesional exploits to myself to avoid ridicule. Oh well your loss.

i always carry a spyderco of some sort and someone was showing me his POS S&W. I told him his spine was sharper then his edge and he said it didnt need to be sharp to go between rib cages....i asked how many rib cages has he gone thru in the last 10 years...NONE

if for no reason other than that i LOVE to spread this around, HERE is the story of the REAL mall ninja.

The thread posted at this link is the original event that CREATED the term "mall ninja"

it is long, but if you can make it through the whole thing, you will laugh for the rest of your life

Here in Nebraska we have tons of crap knives at our gunshows too, you are exactly right, the few guys selling high quality stuff are always sitting there bored while the junk peddlers are busy. I hate to see all those young guys or teens with their parents waste $10-$35 on garbage when that same amount of money could get them a basic Buck or Kershaw or Byrd with some decent steel and workmanship that would actually take a good edge. Thankfully I didn't get into knives until a few years ago and by then I had been buying pre-war Marlin, Winchester, Colt, S&W, ect. guns for a while so I had an appreciation for quality and never did buy the gunshow garbage.

+1 for that

Then why does he even carry a knife at all? I'm sure a large nail or screw driver would be even more affordable then the S&W.

yeah appearently a knife is for going thru rib cages and thats about it since his cant cut anything...everytime i pull out my knife to cut something hairs on my arm commit suicide haha

Ok so I reread the whole mall ninja page and I'm still unsure of whether the people that were being trolled were actually being worked up about it. It was so over the top that it was very clear that the guy/s were just feeding off of how sensitive the posters were and were just being more and more extreme.

It makes me cringe when I see junk knives being touted as the best things ever by those who don't know better. However, like the OP, I try to be nice and have some forbearance. After all, many of us started out that way.

I read that years ago and I think the Gecko poster was one of the other members of the forum just having fun.
