The logic here really is not adding up. A thread bringing up a issue of lack of craftsmanship and quality control is driving companies to outsource?? Really? yea that's whats happens.
If anything it is the direct other way. People love the fact they can buy a high quality knife MADE in america. They are thinking I love the fact I can get craftsmanship and still actually get it made in America. SO they pay a couple extra dollars and buy the knife. It shows up and the blade has obvious lack of craftsmanship and quality control. SO the customer says Hey spyderco whats the deal? Can you fix this for me. I think that is the Ultimate in Quality control and Keeps Companies on their toes.. There is a reason I refuse to Buy a cold steel knife and as much as possible Made only in America Items, There is a reason I pay a couple extra dollars. And anyone who says let the craftsmanship slide since it is made in America is a confused individual
You are not in the majority percentage wise generally speaking, then again the people here on BF aren't in the majority percentage wise of knife buyers.

Most of the knives I personally own are made in the US, but there are very high quality knives made offshore also by Spyderco and others.
Talking in general terms:
Some people love to talk about American made, then they go right down to Wally World..... Also why some of those countries that they are outsourcing to have a middle class now while ours is shrinking fast....
It's the pressure of lower prices that causes issues, after awhile there just isn't anything else to cut so quality starts to suffer for various reasons, then they outsource the manufacturing overseas to cut costs even more.
Why do you think MOST of the industry is gone in the US, and has been for the past 40 years?

It's really taken a huge hit in the past 25 ~ 30 years......
