manliness and the traditional knife

OP's supposition would probably apply to most people that carry the Super-steel tacticools, but not to Trads.

No, it wouldn't apply to them either.
I, and many I know carry a modern(some call tactical and tacticool) with a super steel.
Many carry a Modern and Traditional, and neither makes us feel more manly.

I agree with Ken. Carrying a knife be it 'modern' or traditional, doesn't make me feel more 'manly', rather it makes me feel more complete for a day's venture.

Maybe today.
The Northwoods Knives Burnside Jack in Pioneer Bone my wife got me for our anniversary showed up today.
And today is our anniversary. :)

So I feel at least manly enough that my wife got me a knife rather than a pink shirt as a present. ;)

My beard is manly :D I'm waiting for my 85 razor to get here to shave, Now THATS manly :D :D

Best regards

Robin

It simply makes me feel prepared to cut things when I carry a knife (which is always). I feel prepared to cut things in the same way a woman carrying a knife would feel prepared to cut things. It makes me feel comfortable to carry a knife and conversely i feel uncomfortable (read, ill-prepared) without one.

I do not like to think of it in terms of traditional gender rolls, but instead in terms of preparedness for daily tasks.

Edit: I have been carrying my opinel #6 in carbon for about 4 months now, and I just love it. :)

I also like Halfneck's reply.

I can't help but to keep thinking of that old Saturday Night Live skit "The Raging Queen". They said "manly" a lot.

Facial and body hair make a man a man.
When you combine the two you move yourself into the realm's of greatness .

Get back on topic, please. I reserve the right to make that image disappear. My gag reflex is kicking in right now.

Oh my word, now they are quoting it. I am going to need the 2-gallon size of Brain Bleach.

Usually my beard gives it's nod of approval every time I drop a traditional in my pocket.

I've shaved with my pocket knives without shaving cream. I've got pics, but you have all proved a bit squeamish with that neck to chest hair pic!
