Now, this reminds me most of a sodbuster of sorts with a slightly lower point, while on the 'back side' there be that awful clip thingy, I'll not show that side as it is something you can remove to make it more traditional, BUT this is such a great folder I just had to share it with you guys and gals here in Traditional.
It is moderate to large size folder, but as I've said before with a company by the name of Manly, you'd expect no less
Closed it measures at 4 1/2" and it's blade of German steel is at 3 1/2" the steel is called...and engraved on the blade as 1.2379 which I've heard tell a close cousin of D2 and she arrived blisteringly sharp, they did good on this folder.
The opening, you see what looks like a nail nick, but it is more for decoration than use for opening, as it is not ground in deep enough for a nail to really catch hold on, so this is a pinch blade opening type knife and it is pretty hard to open too, but that also equates to an equally hard kept open blade by that strong back spring.
It has SEVERAL stops along the way to being open, I've not taken the knife apart, even though they do include an allen wrench in case you need to, nice touch. But as you first pull it open it has a light detent then at the half a much stronger detent, then yet another light detent ending with a solid blade in place while opened.
I envision that in the back spring is a V cut into it, so that the corners of the blade tang drop into that V providing some soft stopping points, I've grown to like it's opening feel. And another interesting aspect is at closed, and half way open and full open, the back spring is flush! nice detail indeed.
Also someone noted that when closed you see the tang end has a ground down angle so it isn't so harsh while in the pocket.
And for a very very modest fee with all the above, it makes it the G2 recommendation of 2016
Here are some images of this slipjoint folder;
I suggest that those that enjoy a sodbuster AND have good hand/grip strength to open the blade, take a look at this folder, a couple of Bladeforums dealers have these in stock, I got this one from Blade HQ
