Mantis knives took care of a small town Police Department

I think we can let this one die. It has run it's course.

Friends of Jared should tell him for his own good to call it off before the harm is widespread.

I think the damage is already widespread, he deserves it. I think Mantis knives has gone the way of the Dark ops.

I think Mantis knives has gone the way of the Dark ops.

At least Dark Ops doesn't have flaming red accents on some of their knife handles. That is probably how Manits Militia members identify one another at super-special "sponsered" events, like slumber parties, trips to the mall, and group spamming raids on Bladeforums.:D

Think what you all want. I think it was pretty cool that Mantis took care of these guys...no matter what you may think of them this was a very generous thing to do.

If it's even true and not some bullshit someone made up in order to create a "buzz" and win a free knife...

Well, m4b, since you dug it up after 3 weeks, generous to the PD? Yes! If it indeed did happen.

Moronic no-brained spam campaign perpetrated by their Fearless Leader? Yes!

What if he had told them to stop traffic on the interstate and show passers-by how "cool" Mantis knives (Gawd, it's hard to put those two words together) are?

I think I'll think about something that makes more sense...

Nice ya, I don't buy that it was out of the kindness of somebody's heart. I wonder who took the tax deductions? Maybe it was a personal deductible donation on the part of the owner. Then in addition promote the donation to receive good will as a public relations ploy.

I, for one, am very curious to know how the blow-up over the "Mantis Militia" e-mails has affected Mantis Knives' sales figures. Forums like this one -- and I assume BFC is the biggest of the knife discussion boards on the Web -- represent that one-percenter portion of the knife-buying demographic. Generally folks who post at sites like this are among the most informed and connected of knife buyers. But there are plenty of other knife buyers who are not in that category... so I find myself wondering, do those folks make up a large portion of the company's sales base? (For that matter, I wonder what their sales are.)

No B.S. involved. It truly happened. Small town PD. Smaller Budget. I contacted several knife companies for help, and although Mantis was only a couple of months old, they still helped out. Was it a big expenditure??? No, we only had 4 officers including myself. But that action spoke volumes for me.

Don't have a dog in this but I'm of the type who enjoys verifying things where I can. It was simple to reach out to the Troy PD and they confirmed the fact that somebody's novelty knives were provided to their officers around the time quoted. The knives were somewhat impractical, longer handled, VERY short bladed. The story rings true.

Again, Jared should be commended for that act of kindness. Now the entire two-man Department carry mantis. I am all for folks donating knives to PD's. Several Manufacturers, Dealers and others have done similar things.

Heck, there was a man who donated an MP5SD and five decked out AR's because he liked the Chief.;) The Chief would have been happy with just one!!

Kudos to Police like equipment donaters everywhere!!!

imho BF members arent the group that mantis is targeting, they are more an entry level maker (or importer) on par (or slightly below) CRKT.

i doubt all the hoopla here has had an effect on matis at all, positive or negative, most folks on this forum are interested in higher end stuff.

now if they planned on improving the line and branching out into higher end stuff, then this has all been a big negative,

i do know untill all this i had never even heard of them lol.

Interesting post. I especially like the phrases "somebody's novelty knives" and "somewhat impractical, longer handled, VERY short bladed". Seems to me that Mantiz didn't make that big of an impression with the folks on the Troy PD.

Very nice work rrr...

A.G also headed up a huge campaign.
Those guys did it because they felt it was the right thing to do.
Funny how they did not encourage their customers to spam the action on other peoples backs.

I am now 100% convinced these Mantis spammers are clueless and do not even have a decent sense of right and wrong.

If you read the General Knife Discussion forum you will see that there are lots of Bladeforums members that purchase knives in the Mantis range. $30.00 to $100.00 knives are very popular amongst a substantial percentage of the membership here.

Heck even Frost Cutlery donated knives to troops.
Even they did not spam about.
