Marion Poff ripped me off

Ive written off a lot of money to "friends" myself.Best thing is DONT LOAN MONEY TO FRIENDS.

Well............I've read this thred thru a couple of times and I have a question.
This whole experience seems to be a personal issue between the 2 parties involved and has nothing to do with the BF Community at large. Why was this brought up here for all to see? It seems the intention was to shame the offending party into a return of $$ and items by exposing him here.

That does not seem right to me. Just my opinion.

It's here, so that the knife community can determine for ourselves, what kind of folks we choose to deal with, characterwise. The fact that it took a public exposing to get him to pay up, is an indication of character, or lack thereof. A true friend wouldn't allow it to get to that point, IMO.

+1.

I didn't see it coming, honestly. The whole "living hand-to-mouth" thing doesn't square up to me with a guy who posts new knives he's gotten quite often. I remember not long ago he was posting pictures of his new Buck/TC Nessmuk, and that ain't a cheap knife.

Yeah, Danbo, I see your point. I just have a problem with the public airing of personal issues. That's all I'm saying, seems kinda voyeristic on our (me included)) part.

Agreed it has changed my image of MP :(, BUT he does seem to be doing the right thing now!

The new knives I buy are to build my stable for my sheath business.

The Buck/TC Nessmuk was acquired in a trade, and I got a really good deal.

Kind Regards,
Marion

Ok, that's fine. But, don't say you live "hand-to-mouth" so you can't repay money you owe a guy, and then "build your stable" and post about it on here. It looks shady, and dishonest.

Would you fault someone for putting gas in their car to go to work? Sure, that guy could not drive and pay someone back, at the expense of his ability to go to work, but no one I knows would expect that. The gas is seen as a necessary expense.

I buy knives, so that I can build sheaths, and sheaths are my only business. That seems like a reasonable business expense, a necessary expense.

But, I did not use it as an excuse, those are just the details that are being picked over by the bystanders to Aaron and I's drama.

I owe him money. And I will repay him.

I will send his knives and his saw to him, shortly after I find out where he wants them shipped.

Kind Regards,
Marion

Ok, Marion. You're right. Gas metaphors aside, you run a sheath business which you promote on this site. We, the "bystanders", are members of this community. I think we have the right to comment when you do another member wrong. That's what GB&U is for. It seems to all have started over the sell of a knife, and the profits that ensued from that sale. Did you make that sale here on BF? If so, how is this "drama" any different from any other negative transaction post in this subforum?

Man, I got nothing against you putting your two cents in, I was just being specific, which absent smiley faces sometimes seems stilted or worse...

I have no quarrel with you. Aaron has every right to post here, and you have every right to comment.

As I've made it clear, this is an transaction/business issue and not an personal one. It's difficult at best to even consider writing an negative comment or post about someone and a business transaction, as there is no pleasure in it.

Bottom Line:

You don't take funds that don't belong to you and keep them for months on end and not communicate what is the reason. That is an character/conduct issue.

Marion, you can send them to the store address and that's best, as I'm leaving for the Thailand very soon.

I have your Wa state address and will send funds for shipping. Let me know the amount and I'll get it out to you.

As for the $$$ you owe me, don't worry about paying it back, because I know you need it at this point. It's never about money for me, it's about conduct, communication, and ethic.

All I wish for is my belongings and the hope that in the future your more responsible, honest, communicative when you make an transaction, whether family, friends, or strangers.

Think about how intelligent and gifted you are and then apply that to decisions that you make. You really need to do that, and start treating yourself better.

Hi Guys, I am from N.Ireland and felt compelled to write and comment on this Joker! Marion Poff also ripped me off. I paid $165 for various sheaths and was told that they would be with me within 6-8 weeks, 15 weeks later and no replies to my many emails I am left to conclude that I too have been taken for a fool. I have read the posts on this and to all the guys who are sitting on the fence I have this to say, this guy has knowingly commited a fraud in which he has taken peoples hard earned money with no intention of every supplying the goods, he hopes that people will put it down to a bad experience and forget about him. NO CHANCE! he uses the excuse that he is no good at this side of the business and that his health is not good, I would question both of these statements, he is a conman who will prey on peoples good will to give a guy a break and then he just carries on doing the same thing again. We, as a community have a duty of care to other members to make them aware of this guy and his shady pratices. I have informed Paypal of his conduct and lodged a formal complaint, I have also informed my credit card company and they will be persuing this guy. I am also looking at informing the correct authorities with the view of getting him prosecuted. I have no time for people like this that simple con people. This guy needs to be stopped and stopped now!

Sorry to hear about that. Unfortunately, it sounds like par for the course for Mr. Poff -- the guy is incredible in terms of the total lack of integrity and professionalism with which he treats his customers. As I've said on another of these threads, I'm amazed that anyone continues to give him their business -- I never have and certainly never will.

Well, hopefully, with the efforts of the members here at BF (and on other sites), the truth about MDP is becoming so clear that his pool of supporters will trickle-down to nothing.

After several emails to and from, Marion Poff agreed to make a sheath for me and we had great communication until he received my knife and the money for the sheath. Then all communication from him stopped.
He cashed the USPS money order as soon as he got it and I did not hear another thing from him.

After almost 100 emails to him with no response and a certified letter that he picked up I finally got my knife back with a letter telling of his dad.
There was no Kydex sheath for my knife and he kept the money I sent him for the sheath.

IMO the guy is a thief. Do not do business with him.

Mike
