Maritime Forest Wetlands Hike

HD: email me your shipping address and I'll send you a new sheath. jeff@eseeknives.com

Nice photos as always. Patrick Rollins and I did a little hike today also. The George Disney trail in Georgia. With a 35 pound it literally kicked my ass!

Thanks, Jeff. Old women in walkers go further and faster than I do nowadays. I'm beat. An other than a few dunes, it's flat here. email sent.

Enough of this outdoor nonsense. "Hey look at my new knife".

The ESSE-4 did fine today, even as a mico-machete. If it wouldn't scare the other hikers, who usually avoid the areas I hike in, I'd carry the Junglas. But they would see me coming out of the bush with that big knife. They run away now when I just try to say hello!

Am I just scary looking? I'm just a fat old man.

That's been my experience with the 4 as well. It does chop really well for such a small knife. I have made several hearth boards with my old one I am thinking about modding the pommel a little on this next one because with it's size and thickness it is to me probably one of the world's better tough survival knives of any size and still able to be carried discretely at need.

I know the feeling, I have received some really interesting looks over an RC-3 fixed to my pack strap. But then I get told I'm sort of scary all the time, maybe because I have a natural frown...

I smile and wave. I even carry treats in my vest for da yoots. They probably think I'm an old pervert or something. Oh, well, life goes on. It sure was a grand day! :D

Great pictures HD. Quick question.. I see you use the clip mount on your 6 sheath. With it clipped onto your belt/waistband does the sheath bounce off your leg as you walk or does it stay pretty static? Thanks.

I haven't walked far with the clip on my belt. I used the hard sheath with clip on my Maxpedition. I use the spec-ops sheath for belt carry.

Thanks for the post, HD - beautiful stuff. With the foot-and-a-half of snow still on the ground here, that looks like a tropical paradise to me!

I was noticing on the wxr channel how much snow NYC and NJ has had. It's been a rough winter. If all else fails, join the other snowbirds and take I-95 South. You'll probably run into your neighbors on Jekyll Island. I didn't hear many Southern accents there yesterday. The local chamber of commerce should send me some money! Glad you liked the pics. :D

HD, for some reason I am not getting your emails. Can you send me a private message through Bladeforums or post you email address and let me try sending you an email.

HD, got the private message and Mike will send you another sheath out. Still don't know why I'm not getting your emails. I think we have another cult invading and taking over us or something.

Ever notice how I never enter the contests for free stuff? It's Odin's will that I pay for everything......twice!

HD, I love that island and spent plenty of time there. Within 5 minutes of leaving the pier you feel like you're on a deserted island. I avoid the forest areas though. I walked about 50 yards in once, looked down, and was covered from the knees down with ticks. Maybe it was the time of year, but it still gives me the willies. I'm no stranger to ticks, but I was covered! It is very beautiful there. Thanks for the pictures, they bring back some great memories.

The ticks, chiggers, mosquitos, spiders, and scorpions are bad. The sand gnats are vicious, too. Then we have the ever popular deer flies. So far, I have not found any ticks on me. Any later in the year, and you need some serious DEET all over. That is why I whacked that one palmetto leaf hanging in the trail. If you let any of that vegetation brush against you in Summer, you'll be sorry. It's a jungle out there!

Thanks. It was a glorious day to be out and about!:D

I wish I was there, rather than sitting at my desk, looking out my office window at dirty snow and concrete. Oh, well at least it's sunny, it's warming up, and I can see the city's greenway across the interstate.

HD, nice pictures. I can actually feel the sand between my toes.
