Mark Cooke Camp Bowie - WIP - Coop pics added!

Dang Mark; you don't do anything half fast. Mad vid skillz... :)

I appreciate Roger's support, and so do you. :D

Guys, we have another large blip on the radar screen. Don't lose sight. ;)

Thank you, all.

Coop

I've been waiting and watching to post..:)
This ended up being super nice and I just love all the details.
Congrats, Roger and Mark !!
As always, great imagery, Coop.

Doug

ps: Your idea about a double lugged guard variant is excellent, I'm crazy about this blade profile.

Thanks for all for the kind words! Seriously guys :D

Doug: Funny you should mention that... *hint hint*

I'll get a proper account soon... then i'll be a more active participant on the Forum. I really enjoyed this WIP and would love to post more.
It would be relatively easy for me, as i take hundreds of pics of every knife i build for Instagram. Add a brief description, BOOM, you have a WIP or at least an interesting pictorial representation of the build! :)

Some future plans that Mark shared on FB. And yes, I'd like one of each!

Absolutely nailed it in all respects! Roger's great eye for talent and his impeccable taste. Mark's artistic sense of design and flawless execution. Paul's understated masterful sheath crafting and Coop's top tier capture. Thank you for your effort in taking the time to post up Roger.

Cheers my man. Mark will no doubt be delighted with that mistake, though - as he made the sheath. ;)

I see..... I suppose it was kind of obvious huh? :D

I'll let you know how close he came when I have the knife in hand (package presently in transit). Regardless, it is really nice to be able to get something directly from the maker that is beyond merely functional, but at least comes close to being as aesthetically pleasing as the knife itself.

HA! Im flattered that you thought that was a Paul Long sheath
The man does amazing work..... i'm not even close to his level!
I believe this is around sheath #10 for me and i owe it to Paul, as i learned most all of what i know via his instructional DVD's.
Thank you Paul for giving that gift to me and others like me! :)

I REALLY enjoy leather. Its a highly enjoyable medium to work with and it gives you a mental break in-between builds. Plus you get to sit inside where there's A/C :p
If anyone buys a knife from me, it will ALWAYS come with a sheath; it ain'f finished until then

Doug: IMHO Soul Authorship is very important, thats the way it will always be for me. Not because I'm a snob or anything, its just that I'm severely ADD and i want to dip my hands into anything and everything!!! (plus I'm cheap) ;)

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on everything Roger, its been an absolute pleasure and i look forward to future projects!

Knife is waiting for me at the post office - didn't get home in time to pick it up  but will do tomorrow. :D

thanks guys!

Lorien: LOL that song is hilarious. listened to it all morning long. i did some research a while back and apparently a longdog is its own breed; "greyhoundish". They are used in Ireland, or somewhere like that, to poach deer. Never the less, I loved the song hahahaha

Roger: Im Stoked! can't wait to hear what you think about it. I value your feedback; from what i gather you've had a couple of nice blades before ;)

Knife and sheath are safely in hand. It's hardly a surprise that I am well pleased with the result - the quality of the workmanship has been evident all along, as have Mark's exacting standards and unbridles enthusiasm.

The pictures and commentary have already told the story. I'll just add that this is a JS-ready piece in my view, which is crazy given how few knives Mark has made to this point. Fit and finish are super clean. The handle ergonomics are excellent.

The sheath is VERY well done indeed. No, not quite Paul Long but an excellent product that you would be pleased and proud to have on your hip. Total package here.

Well done Mark - it's been an absolute pleasure. I'll look forward to the next one.

it was the title of the song which caused me to post, not the lyrics! That, and it has a catchy melody :) Although, if you were to delve into the lyrical inspiration, there is a certain nobility to snubbing one's nose at nobility, vis a vis poaching during a certain period in history. Robin Hood, et al, ie. Perhaps a timely topic, more suited to a political discussion which has no place here :)

Good on you, Roger. It's always awesome helping draw attention to someone's work who you know deserves a wider audience. Awesome for everyone, and the mark of a real patron:thumbup::cool:
